DonnaK Posted November 2, 2008 #26 Share Posted November 2, 2008 I think you made the right choice. A 9 day cruise over a 7 day cruise, regardless of the type of cabin. Plus, I'd always pick an RCI ship over a CCL ship.
truck72003 Posted November 2, 2008 #27 Share Posted November 2, 2008 The 1st is a 9 day cruise in the highest Inside Cabin category visiting San Juan, St. Thomas, Samana and a private island. The total cost is $2,755. The 2nd is a 7 day cruise in the Balcony Guarantee category visiting Grand Turk, Freeport and a private island. The total cost is $2,335. Now the cost isn't a factor, just wondering if a balcony is worth more then the extra 2 days or if the 2 extra days are the better choice over a balcony. Thanks everyone, have a nice day. Not even a question for me. I'm going to assume this is a conundrum for you because you've not yet tried a private balcony. YES it is more than worth 2 extra days in an inside cabin. Think of the difference between a closet and an ocean front condo and that tells you which cruise I'd pick in a heartbeat! BALCONY!!!!!!!!!!!! land lover Posted November 2, 2008 #28 Share Posted November 2, 2008 MHO anything longer than 7 days you should have a balcony............. Just think if you get sick and have to be cooped up in an inside:eek:
skandls Posted November 2, 2008 #29 Share Posted November 2, 2008 I would take the Grandeur because I do not care for Carnival. Just be aware that the number of balconies on the Vision class ships is fairly limited. But you may be able to upgrade to one of the ocean view cabins. I think there are some that are considered obstructed view - that are a good bargain. I love balconies but on the older ships we do OV - its nice knowing whether its light outside. Rare cruiselvr04 Posted November 2, 2008 #30 Share Posted November 2, 2008 Just get out there!! Have a great trip with your spouse. It is so wonderful to get away. We have done an 11 night on the smallest ship out there with 120 sq ft inside cabin and had a GREAT time. Balconys are great but insides are fine if it's all you can afford. (We've also had balconys). We are going to book an outside or inside after 2 aft balconys because we just want to be able to go. Our trips are sometimes enhanced by the cabin we get it never makes the trip for us. Generally speaking RCCL is a more family oriented cruise line. They will tell you up front when a show or activity has adult content so you can make a choice about going. Again Have a great time!!!
cruiserbryce Posted November 2, 2008 #31 Share Posted November 2, 2008 inside on the 9 day...we are much more about the things we do on the ship and the places we go then the cabin we are in.
Mikew0805 Posted November 3, 2008 #32 Share Posted November 3, 2008 WE decided on the RCCL 9 day Inside cabin. First is my wife prefers RCCL but the main decision maker was reviews of the Pride which included the following:-The artwork on the ship, includes some nudity -I loved the art pieces and didn't get all excited about seeing "boobies." -Though there were nude pictures everywhere -The style was that of italian art so there were a lot of nude photos and statues all over the ship which to me wouldn't say "family funship". -There was a HUGE nude painting of a woman as you walk into the Normandie dining room and a statue of a naked man in the middle of the supper club -The renisance art work and nudity on Carnival Pride was way over the top, to the point of being garish and tasteless -Much of the Renaissance "artwork" features nudity -The topless-mermaid sculptures were up on Lido Deck were anatomically correct We are Bible believing and bible teaching church members and this is not OK with us and if these responses are in just a few reviews I've read then to me it means that it is obvious and we wouldn't be comfortable on this ship. LMAO!!! Your kidding right? I could see if we were talking about pornography, but gimme a break... Renaissance Art? Sistine Chapel? Actually, forget it.. my morals are probably way out of whack compared to everyone else.. I would not have a problem with a child seeing a piece of art from a time when everyone else was not so ashamed of the human body.... that GOD made! I would not have a problem with a child seeing a piece of art from a time when everyone else was not so ashamed of the human body.... that GOD made! It's amazing to me as well...that someone would base their decision on art on a cruise ship. Although, our one and only Carnival cruise we were baffled by the art that was chosen for the ship, so very tacky in comparison to other ships we've sailed. To each his own :)
cruisegirl06 Posted November 3, 2008 #34 Share Posted November 3, 2008 I agree with picking the 9 day, more time on the ship always wins in my books! I always book insides, because it means I get to cruise more often, plus, not having a balcony forces me to enjoy the whole ship (I'm sure I would LOVE a balcony too, but I'm resisting as long as possible). Is there a reason you picked the highest cat. of inside cabin? Usually they are all the same (just different floors/locations) and you might be able to save a good bit of money by "downgrading" and moving down a deck, with essentially the same room. (I'm sure not everyone will agree with this, but I usually try to minimize cruise costs so I have more to spend on the trip.)
