Thinking about booking…more questions!

OK. Here’s the deal. I may be looking to book our spring 2009 cruise this month using the Military Friends and Family deal for two cabins. I will actually be ON a cruise when this sale ends. I looked up the price of the cruise today, and it has gone up this week. So, I’d like to wait until that last week to see if it goes down.

Anyway, I heard about the "booking while on board thing" where they give you OBC when you purchase a $100 certificate toward your next cruise. Do you think I can use this in combination with the MFF discount? Do they hand you your certificate right there on board, or do you have to wait for them to mail it? I’d like to book through my TA, which I would have to do online while on board. If it is required to book through Carnival, can I transfer the booking to my TA when I get home? I hope I’m making sense here!

Last, what is the latest point can you change your booking without penalty? We may choose to upgrade if prices go even lower in January like I think they will. Is it anytime before final payment or what?

Thanks in advance :)

Boob! How you been doing?

We're going on a cruise this month too, the Liberty. Just booked it a few days ago. The military prices are crazy!

Sorry to have hijacked your question...are they giving $100 off if you book on board now? That would be great as we are considering an October '09 cruise. What sailing are you looking at?

Consider if you've booked with Carnival and the cruise goes down after you book, you can still call and get a price adjustment - so you could book (now) at leisure and not be distracted on your cruise. I'd call and check-on the combinability of the $100 coupon with Military rate. Yes, you can transfer your Military booking to your TA, but at that point, why? ken

Hey Turbo! :D How are the boys? Did your little guy survive his knee problem without too much scarring? Tell your DH my DH said hello! I'm thinking about giving blackjack a try this time!

Gotta love the military rates. Especially since you can book more than one cabin this month. We're looking at a 5 or 6 day itinerary in April. I'm leaning toward the Pride Western Carib out of Miami for 6 days. This upcoming cruise over Thanksgiving is just DD, me and her best friend to celebrate DD finishing basic training and turning 18 while on the cruise. You didn't get to meet her last time because she was on a class trip when we were on Fortuna. Have you heard from any of the other "Rosta" group? What a blast!

Just out of loyalty. She's really helped me out of a bind once, and has broken away from her large corporate online TA company and started a small cruise TA business with a couple other agents. I prefer to support small business I guess. My question was whether you have to book with Carnival while on board to take advantage of the on-board special. Anyone know?

When we were on the Conquest is Sept, I asked and they cannot be used with military pricing.

That's a bummer! I guess I'll just ask them point blank if they have this offer when I'm there in November just to be sure. Seems like Carnival is a bit wishy-washy about whether or not they will allow different things--may depend on who you ask!

No, you dont have to book on board to take advantage. You can purchase a certificate to be used later for booking another cruise. Thats what I did. I plan to be swimming in OBCs.

btw, no, you cannot use the next cruise certificate with the military pricing, not combinable.

Thanks for the info Firefly. I may just purchase them to use on a future cruise when DD will not be joining us. After all, she is going to be out of the nest soon, and I hope to cruise more often anyway! LOL..."swimming in OBCs"!!! Great visual...LOL :p!

Boob, Thanks for the info. I read the thread and it seems interesting. I would be very upset if it can't be combined with the military discount. The way I look at it, my husband put his life on the line for this country and has earned his military discount. They shouldn't be able to take this away from him, or make him choose one or the other.

Tyler's knee is doing great. It took weeks...and I mean about 3 solid weeks to close up. Now he's got a great looking scar--ugly, ragged and purple. He loves it! How's Kylar?

Mike said to say hi to your hubby. We're trying to save some money on this cruise, so I'm hoping that he won't go crazy in the casino....but I doubt it.

Shoot me an e-mail at mommy 3k3 at yahell (you get it...) I tried to find your e-mail addy in my past e-mails, but couldn't.

Don't want to take up CC bandwidth to discuss the earning of the Mil discount, saving $ in the casino, and our kids' scars...LOL! :o
