hi everyone

we just returned from our fantastic trip on the explorer and can tell you that the prominade is smoke free but there are plenty of places to smoke. smoking on the outside is on the starboard (right) side of the ship.

we have taken my 82 year old mother on 2 cruises and she too likes to have her cigarettes. she met so many wonderful people and developed some lasting friendships.

have a wonderful cruise!!!;)

I realize that you have turned to Cruise Critic for answers.........but in this case.........I would have a tendancy to call Royal Caribbean directly......to learn of the areas that allow smoking.......and the ones that do not.

Royal Caribbean is in the business of making people happy on their cruises, and yours is no different.

Although we are non smokers.....one of my wifes best friends is a smoker...and we always find out where she can smoke. Not just one place on the ship...........but anywhere that she can enjoy her cigs.

I wish that I could give you every place to smoke......but it's now policy on each ship as to where one can smoke.

Until Royal Caribbean becomes totally non smoking.........there are always places that she can enjoy her cigs.

On so many ships.......the Officers are foreign..........and smoke. If she can make friends with the bridge officers.........that's the best place to smoke!!

Just don't say that it came from me!!:D:D

Hi, Ordinarily I would agree with rubrrick but I've gotten so many wrong and different answers from RCL. I don't think the ground personnel have a clue of what actually happens on which ship.

I would, when securing your Star into her cabin, check out the nearest elevator to the nearest smoking deck. That could even be a few decks down right outside the Casino obviously depending on where her cabin is but it's the side of the ship that counts.

If it's just one cigarette she would like at night before retirering, it might be easier to have it on a very nearby deck rather than in a public forum.

I hope you have a wonderful cruise. :)

Many thanks for advice! I am sure she will be just fine! It is a bit odd that ships have different policies would make sense if the same policies applied fleet wide. I understand the concierge may contact us before the cruise so good idea as you pointed out to ask him. I am pleased that we managed to get her a pr room - she will adore all the comings and goings! Rick you are so right been on a celebrity ship bridge and was ashtrays all around and captain smoked. Thanks all!

This was not a flaming answer. Believe you me if I wanted to flame you, you'd think a blowtorch was on your butt.

This is a "civil" statement.... " I can't wait until RCI goes smoke-FREE".

Nice eh:D

Such charming manners. Do hope we have the pleasure of meeting one day on a cruise. You might just learn what a "wee scots lassie fae Glesga" can do to your delightful BUTT! Anyone want to assist me in giving a Glasgow kiss:D

Hi.

We just moved my elderly mother in laws cabin to a promenade cabin on deck 7. Originally she was nearby to our suite so could have popped out on to our balcony to have a cigarette. (sorry on explorer!)

Can you please tell me where her nearest access point is to go for a cig?

Her easiest bet would be to go down to the Promenade and just outside the Crown and Kettle are stairs down to the casino where aside from formal night she can smoke.

The "cigar" bar is down another deck but we found often that area is closed off. Those for her would be the closest inside areas. The ship is excellent for signs showing where things are.

Personally I do not like the enclosed feeling of the Promenade, it was always crowded. I can understand why no smoking would be enforced there.

Thank you Jeanne that is very helpful info! I spoke with her last night she says absolutely not to worry she is so happy to be coming that where she can smoke is totally not an issue for her but I bet on board she will be happy to have choices! Thank you all and thank you Pegleg for the smiles you brought to all of us - now hop it!

When your ready to come back down to earth, we will all welcome you with open arms (although we might have them there yucky cigarettes in our mouths). :p
