Priority Check-in

OK here are some stupid questions:rolleyes:

We're finally platinum, so I think we get "priority check-in". I've never paid attention when checking in, is there just a seperate line you get in that's marked with a sign or something?

What does it really mean, just hopefully a shorter line?

I recall something also about a seperate waiting area at some ports after checking in???? We're cruising from Fort Lauderdal next.

I think I've also read here that my wifes brother (going with us on his first cruise with his own cabin) can check in with us?

Thanks for any help for new Platinum members!!!:)

Yes, there is a sign that says who gets priority check in: C&A appro levels and suites. Some ports do have separate waiting areas and may have cookies and punch. You should be able to take your wife's brother in with you since you are travelling together, if he's not with you, he will have to get in the other line. Sometimes the port may not be busy and you will just be told to go to the open agent which is fine to, the sooner your on board the better, imho. Have a great cruise!

We cruised out of Fll last Feb on the Enchantment (we're Diamond). When you enter the terminal, there is a fairly large waiting area. Look for the sign directing Diamond+, Diamond, Platinum and Suite holders to a separate waiting area ajacent to the regular one. When it was time to embark, a RCL person escorted us into another room where you will check in then board the ship first.

In San Juan all we got out of priority boarding is faster line to check in and thus on board faster which was very nice... In Galveston I beleive there is a separate waiting area...

When we went on the NOS last November it was the first time we were Platinum, we also had our son and his girlfriend with us who never cruised, they were allowed to get in line with us. I can tell you this, from the time we check in until the time we boarded the ship and this was around 11:30 we were on board in less then 20 minutes. We could not believe how fast we were on the ship. Would not say the same thing about getting off the ship.

Did they not offer priority debarkation?

Priority Debarkation is for Platinum and above. We are Diamond now, but always got priority once we hit Platinum.

Guess it varies by ship. When I hit platinum all I got access to was the priority departure lounge. BUT the LAs were very specific when they came to get the Diamonds that priority debarkation was for Diamonds only. In other words, we got a decent place to wait, but had to wait for our regular group to be called like everyone else.

It was just a roped off area, with some juices and cookies.

But it is next to the doorway that leads to the scanners and photographers.

Note, Priority is often so packed it is easier to just get in line. Also, it is is jammed, they may NOT let your friends check in with you. No big deal, ya still get on the same ship.
