beach410 Posted November 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Whats your opinion? Do you like them, dislike, pros, cons? Does the front of the ship get more vibration or noise compared to the back of the ship outside room (Empress) Thanks for your input!
shipty2 Posted November 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2008 We had one of those rooms on the Fantasy and loved it. Our son was five at the time and he liked to sit in the window well and look out with his toys gathered around him. In the morning we did hear the sound of an anchor dropping (or something that sounded like that anyway). We thought it was kind of cool-reminded us that we were on a ship. No noise of people coming and going though and very quiet at night.
firefly333 Posted November 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Try to get one on starboard side, the anchor noise is on the port side of the ship. We never heard the anchor on starboard side.
beach410 Posted November 20, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Thanks! I had to look this up, never really knew it: Starboard: The right-hand side of a ship or aircraft as one faces forward.
mringenoldus Posted November 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2008 I always have to remember that "port" has four letters and so does "left". We sail January 21 - a surprise Christmas present for DH. We have cabin U7 (starboard) on the Elation. Is this a Fantasy class ship? Has anyone had this category 5A cabin? I passed up the last available balcony because it was twice the cost and obstructed. As much as my husband loves a balcony, I wonder if I did the right thing. I have waitlisted for a balcony but am not really very hopeful. Any thoughts??
