Aplmac Posted January 9, 2009 #251 Share Posted January 9, 2009 No, not a Marine; just cheap! :D ===> No wonder we're buddies! :D:D We've sailed through a hurricane before; well actually the captain was busy trying to outrun it. Our ship tilted about 15 degrees from around noon until 7pm that night! But...we outran it, or it outran us in the opposite direction...or something! This was our cruise in Fantasy in '05! Can't remember the name of the hurricane but we almost missed it. We left port on a Sunday and it caught us by noon on Monday! CD, here's the NOAA track chart of Hurricanes for 2005complete with names and dates. You may be able to figure out which Hurricane it was, by following the lines, etc. Black dots along the lines are position-at-midnight white dots are position-at-mid-day.. -takes a bit of figuring out, sometimes! Hope this helps jog the memory!? Whoaa! Lookit THAT!

padre Posted January 9, 2009 #263 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Just booked this trip for next year's New Year's trip! Padre, I'd love to hear how it was this year! Was the ship totally full? What did they do for New Year's? How was the weather? All these pics are awesome and makes me so excited!!! I dont know how to know when the ship is fully sold out, but it was crowded everywhere we went. Maybe one of the ways is to look around the dining room and see if there are empty tables. we did have some empty tables near us, but we also had the early seating so that may have been part of the reason. It sure seemed full. We were given party favors and free champagne up on the Lido deck on New Years Eve. The party started at 8 PM, but most of us went to the Caribbean Lounge for the show at 8:45 and then headed up around 10 or 10:30 for the party. I am pretty sure by midnight (which is an hour before the ball drops in NY because of the time zone difference) that every single person on that ship was on the Lido deck, it was packed! The waiters were walking around with free glasses of champagne, but we ended up buying a bottle of Asti because we like that better. It was a very festive time and we stayed partying until after 1 to see the ball drop in Times Square. Those people sure did look cold! The Victory Singers and Dancers came out on the Lido deck to help us ring in the New Year and the captain came and wished us Happy New Year in at least a dozen different languages. here are some party favors some partying by some guests that attracted lots of attention where ever they went! this shows you how crowded! Aplmac Posted January 9, 2009 #269 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Do you have any great pics of St. Kitts or St. Lucia beaches or recommendations on beaches to visit, when we are there? Sorry...can't tell you muchother than Reduit Beach on St.Lucia is not too far from the Point Seraphine Cruise Complex where your ship will dock and I've heard a few ppl say nice things about Reduit. Despite living in these islands, I haven't visited St.Lucia since 1986 (other than a brief May 2007 stop on Destiny, when I didn't do much: hangover from Stugeron, the night before). St.Kitts... only ever bin there once and we did a quick half-day (non-beach) tour to Brimstone Hill Fortress but there's a nice hotel and beach out in their South-Eastern section,I'm told. St.Kitts is not much of a beachy island. Antigua and Barbados are the beachy islands i.e. not all Caribbean islands are beachy islands. _______________________________________ Hope this smattering of info helps, but I doubt it. get over to the Ports-of-Call section at URL.. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5 and start plowing thru the various island-destination threads there. There's a ton of individual-island info there!

marniegirl Posted January 9, 2009 #272 Share Posted January 9, 2009 That Sigma 10-20 lens I use on the D60 ..is more in the $500-600 range, I think... I paid GBPounds 325 for it in the UK, back in Sept. and it may be offered for a bit less as the crunch continues, so keep an eye out. Check B&H in NYC for best prices and prompt delivery. Just ordered this lens!! Thanks for the heads up aplmac! Priced very reasonably too. Nice pict's padre. What are you shooting with?

Join the club. There are several of us who own this amazing optical accessory, now and there's been a thread going to this effect over at the CC Photo Discussion Area at URL.. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=118 where there are actually two threads now related specifically to the Sigma 10-20 superwide lens which you might want to check out.
