Cigar Dude Posted February 3, 2009 #351 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Just dropping in to say hello. I scanned the Capers into my computer as j pegs but they are too large to post here. Aplmac, any suggestions? I dont know how to make them smaller. You can rescan them at a lower resolution or if you have Photoshop or Photosuite you can change the size pretty easy. Aplmac Posted February 3, 2009 #352 Share Posted February 3, 2009 I scanned the Capers into my computer as j pegs but they are too large to post here. Aplmac, any suggestions? I don't know how to make them smaller. You need to put your .jpeg's tru some sort of image manipulation software to reduce their size. I use Photoshop, but few ppl have that... Windows Operating Systems usually come standard with something called PAINT which is fairly darned capable, and can handle simple duties such as size reduction,I'm told. Have a look around in your Start Menu under Programs.. ...it'll be off to the side in one of those little sub-menus, under Entertainment or Accessories or something like that? Just ask the youngest kid in the house -they'll know where Paint is and how to do it :D:D
kelz66 Posted February 3, 2009 #353 Share Posted February 3, 2009 You can rescan them at a lower resolution or if you have Photoshop or Photosuite you can change the size pretty easy. Or download a free program called "IrfanView". It allows you to resize pictures. ;)
Cigar Dude Posted February 3, 2009 #354 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Thanks Kelz66; hadn't heard of that one. BTW folks, I plan to "capture" the allusive aplmac when I'm in Barbados this September and have my picture taken with him. This may be tricky but I'll do my best. :D Plus, I'll force him to show me the cool parts of the island. ;)
Aplmac Posted February 3, 2009 #355 Share Posted February 3, 2009 I do have one questions for you. You mentioned the Black Pearl around page 3 or so and I didn't see any pictures of it. Is this really something you get to see? Not sure if this is what you mean...? Here's the Black Swan tied up alongside the boardwalk between the two cruise-ship piers, in Antigua
Brangwen Posted February 3, 2009 #356 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Or download a free program called "IrfanView". It allows you to resize pictures. ;) IrfanView is good for resizing images - like making something that is 2000x2000 down to a more viewable 800x800 size that fits on a screen. Also has basic cropping, color correction, etc. If it's the physical FILE size (kb or MB) that is too big to upload try googling "Visualizer Photo Resize", you can do entire folders of photos automatically with that one. It not only resizes the image (640x480 is standard), but it also compresses it so your 1.5MB file is now a smaller kb file that is easier to send/upload/etc. ;)

mncrusin Posted February 3, 2009 #358 Share Posted February 3, 2009 do any of you "Victory" folks know if the outlet in the bathroom works if the light is turned off? I want to use a regular night light plugged in there. BTW: Did you hear about the sunken ship they found in the English Channel HMS Victory

Cigar Dude Posted February 3, 2009 #360 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Tim...yew should be here on a Wednesday? Carnival Victory? Yep. We should dock at 8am ship time. I'll call you when we dock. At this point I have added 5 more people to our cruise! Not sure if they'll all be following us around that day but I've told them that the beaches are very nice in Barbados. Connie and I are beach types, so the beaches are at the top of the list for us.

Recently, Victory has been scheduled for 0630 arrival -used to be 0700. You'll be in the channel approaching our Port sometime around then, just about here You'll be free to go ashore by 0800 that's almost certain. Gives you time to do more, if you get going early. . Cigar Dude Posted February 3, 2009 #362 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Dumb question: Are you in the eastern time zone? And if you are do you observe daylight savings time? Bottom line; in September, if it's 8am here in South Carolina what time is it there (in Barbados)? (2 trains leave their stations; one from New York and one from Los Angeles...:D )
Aplmac Posted February 3, 2009 #363 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Dumb question: ===> not so dumb.. Are you in the Eastern time zone? ===> During Summer we are (Apr. - Oct.) Bottom line; in September, if it's 8am here in South Carolina what time is it there (in Barbados)? ===> In September, it'll be the same 8 a.m. Right now(Winter) we're an hour ahead of Eastern. When you guys 'spring forward' an hour in April sometime, we'll be back on Eastern with the Eastern Seaboard for the whole of Summer, until October
