Drink Of the Day

After doing whatever we are going to do in Dominica, does anyone have a recommendation for a good fun place (close to the ship) to have a few drinks before boarding the ship in Roseau? If so, any suggestions for a good local (alcohol laden) drink Dominica is known for?

As you leave the pier turn right and you walk right into Fort Young Hotel I think they have 2 bars one in the main hotel and one on the pier. And I know you get rum punch on every Island but if they have some local rum punch give it a try it is the best of any Island I have been to.

Well, I was going to reply rum punches but that isn't too unique, it it? I will say I tried the Soca rum when I was there and it was exceptional. It is a white rum but was so smooth and flavorful. Think Meyers but without being so overwhelming. I enjoyed rum and cokes made with that and it is made in Dominica. Sadly I never tried the Machoucherie (sp?) rum that is also made in Dominica. The Kubuli beer is very good too. It is made with Dominican spring water and has won European competitions. La Robe Creole is a restaurant located right behind the Fort Young hotel. Their drink menu had some intriguing concoctions listed. That might be an option too. It has been around for a long time and the architecture is in a French Creole style (think New Orleans, wrought iron and such) so you will feel like you are in the French Quarter of Roseau.
