Handling your own luggage question - MIRACLE???

Do you have to notify Carnival that you plan to take your luggage off the morning of disembarkation? Do you get special tags, etc.????

Also, if you can take them off upon returning to port, can you take them on as well? Wasn't sure about this - figured they would have to be security scanned?

Thanks for any input.

I don't know if you can take them on...I guess if you wanted to lug it all. However, they just said that if you wanted to take the luggage off yourself then don't put it out that night....if you even have one checked piece they won't let you off the boat. If you really need to get off the ship early then this is the way to go....but who wants to leave early :)

On the Sensation this past Saturday, disembarking with ALL of your luggage was allowed (without having to check with the purser as in the past).

You had to be off the ship NO later than 8am with every piece of your luggage...and they were very emphatic about this. (If you weren't off by 8am, you and your luggage had to go to your assigned station to wait with the other passengers.) Announcements were made many times about this latest system they're trying.
