Casino drinks

Does the casino serve free drinks to gamblers like they do in Vegas?
No. Why should they? It's not like your going to get up and walk across the street to another ship. They have you right where they want you.

Imagine how crowded that casino would be if they offered free drinks. I think a lot of people would stand around in there instead of heading to the bars/lounges. Drinks are a big money maker for a cruise ship.

And where is the logic here? Doesn't the casino across the street also serve free drinks? WHy would that make me stay?

To the OP....unlike Vegas, there is a charge for the drinks in the casino.

I don't know, I've seen the skill level of a lot of table game players on cruises...a couple $5 cocktails for free, could mean a heck of a lot of revenue for the gaming dept on the cruise...I remember a few years back they gave free 'rum swizzlers' in the casino on the first night...that was a freaking mad house since they servers didn't care if people were gambling or not...

Not necessarily. Thay *all* do it in LV, but some to a lesser degree than others. One example: Some casinos virtually ignore the slot players, others serve only the high-roller slots, still others will cater to *every* bank of slot machines.

Using free drinks as a simple example, one casino's level of comps vs another may or may not assist in one's decision-making as to where one is going to play.

As for the ship, they have a captive audience, plus as others have noted, the bar sales are a huge profit-center. The ship has no reason to comp drinks, and the player has no viable option if they don't like it.

We are members of the Ocean Players Club and on our cruise in October we were offered a few free drinks in the Casino. It all depends on your play amounts at the tables and your slots and your Ocean Players Club point balance. Make your presence known. We do play (both hubby and I) and we play both the tables and slots - we have won some and lost some, but on the October cruise were both big winners, enough to pay our sign and sail and bring home all that we took with us X2.

You can find info about the Ocean Players Club on Carnival's Website - join today and save your points over the next few cruises -- you can be pleasantly surprised with things like shipboard credits on your cruises, gifts and even cash back.

One note - anything you get is entirely proportional to what you spend.

what you risk or what you lose? I assume that thier comp system is simliar to a land based casino, coin-in for slots and average wager per hour for tables?

Though the captive audience makes sense as it relates to free rooms or other large comps, the free drinks does not seem to make sense. If I had free drinks, I might play for another 10 minutes and throw away alot more that $5.

I assume they have thought this through, maybe.

It's not that it would make you stay, it's that if one casino didn't have free drinks and the one across the street did it would be a strong incentive for you to leave and go there.
