kellane Posted November 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2004 My first cruise is planned for Nov. 29th. I have been so excited and have been doing "research" on different websites since last year! I read somewhere a while ago that you can carry your own luggage aboard the ship so that you don't have to worry about what time the ship will have it to your room. Does anyone know if Carnival even allows this? Thanks! Kellane
MichTraveler Posted November 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2004 Usually more of a problem with the port security. Only can carry-on what fits through the xray machines. These are a little bigger than at the airport, but not by much. Which port are you leaving from?
freddiebud Posted November 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2004 Not to mention that you might not be allowed into your cabin when you board, meaning you are now lugging your luggage all around the ship!
serene56 Posted November 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2004 not to mention how slow the elevators are on the days of gettingon and getting off. I would check in the luggage with the porters and carry on what you really need to get you through the first day. For dinner on carnival you can wear your travel clothes as its a bit hectic. kitty9 Posted November 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2004 The only luggage you are allowed to bring on board with you is your small carry on that has to fit through one of those small xray machines. I don't think they fit anything larger than a 19" bag. All your larger bags must be checked and they are scanned in larger machines before being brought on board. maryevelyn Posted November 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2004 My sister once told me that they decided to lug their own luggage on board and they were very sorry. It's usually a long way to your cabin and if you're unfamiliar with the ship who wants to be dragging all those bags around. Especially if you are like me and have 2 carry-ons, a purse, and 3 or 4 large suitcases between hubby and me.:o
JanetMarie Posted November 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2004 Oh, dear. When we travel, there is just no way that we're going to carry our luggage over the ramp and onto the ship. I can't even imagine. Vacation to us, is simply that - vacation!
betsyrossapk Posted November 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2004 And for sure the elevators are closed down for the 1st few hours you arrive on the ship, due to all the luggage being delivered to cabins. We were lucky that we came on the ship onto the Empress Deck & that was our location for our cabin.
