doegirl Posted November 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2004 We are arriving on the Legend and will be here from 7:00 am until 2:00pm Being natives of Florida, we'd like to see something besides a beach. Anyone have any info on Rainforest or ideas of what we should do? I saw something about "Canyoning" but everyone I have written says it has been discontinued. Any help would be appreciated! pomliane Posted November 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2004 first of all, welcome to Martinique. indeed, You can find waterfalls and canyons to enjoy in Martinique. But canyoning during the rainy season should be very dangerous. When in Martinique, or rent a car (or ask a taxi-driver) to bring you to "saut gendarme" in Fonds-Saint denis near Saint Pierre. It's a waterfall and you can also swim. You can have a tour : Jardin de Balata (botanical garden), then follow the route de la trace (in the rainy forrest), go to saint Pierre (and visit habitation Depaz : rhum distillery where you could buy rhum and have a nice rest drinking fresh fruit juice and eat pastries). Then, from Saint Pierre, go to Fonds Saint Denis (10min). Hope you'll enjoy martinique Bon voyage
pittypat Posted January 15, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 15, 2005 If your ship is in port from 8AM-2PM is there time to take this tour and also take the water taxi over to the beach? Thanks, Pittypat
pomliane Posted January 17, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2005 8 am to 2 pm is quite short to visit the rainforest and to go to the beach. You'll have to choose. What you can do is : cross the bay and go to Pointe-du-Bout by boat, shopping there and go the Bakoua or the Kalenda Hotel beach. or Rent a car, go to Saint Pierre by the coastal road, visit the city, visit the Habitation Anse Latouche garden (wonderful!!), and have a bath at "Le Trou" Carbet (black sand beach). You'll be back ont time to take your ship.
