kamari Posted April 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I think this is outrageous. My family usually cruise in the spring, summer & fall. Usually the summer rates for a 3 night cruise range from $289 to 350.00 per person. I checked rates in June and have received quotes of $500.00 or more for 3 night cruise. Why ??????????? snowbun3 Posted April 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2004 When I booked our 3 nighter (over 6 months ago) I paid 239 per person. So, I think it is because cruising is becoming more popular. Also, I find it's always better to book early rather than late. Mark_K Posted April 20, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Supply and demand. If it turns out they've misjudged demand, you'll see some big price drops. Basically because they think they can fill a ship at those prices. ---------------------------------------------------------- "Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits" Mark Twain "Nothing so needs reforming as other people's formal night attire, poolside attire, child rearing practices, walk-talkie usage, chair hogging, seat saving, line cutting ..." Jimbo Posted April 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Another reason is you picked Majesty of the Seas.....and you picked a balcony cabin, there are not many balcony cabins on that ship and because of that they can get those kinds of prices for that category of cabin. Pick an oceanview or inside cabin on that ship and you will be able to go for the prices you listed above. Please don't take my comments as being smart because it wasn't meant that way, but that's just the way it is on that ship. Folgy Posted April 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I just paid 550$ for 2 nights on the Celebrity Infinity. I just wanted a quickie cruise to see what Celebrity is like. I didn't think that was too bad. I have paid 1199.00 for 3 nights before on HAL.
pcur Posted April 20, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I usually try to price under $100 per night per passenger. That's my ballpark when I'm "shopping" for a cruise. I'm seeing these prices, but only on the last minute sales coming in the email newsletters. It's tough to wait until the last 30 days, and then you don't get the cabin you want.
