ShedQueen77 Posted December 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2008 My girls love to dig in the sand, build castles, and whatnot. I noticed Carnival has a little package of toys, but it says it's for a 'toddler' (my girls are almost 7 and 5) and they want $25 for the package , so I'm thinking of bringing some toys along. What do you other parents of sand crazy kids do in regards to the shovels and pails? Thanks!
Kerry's Girls Posted December 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2008 We buy them at the dollar store and pack them. They are light and don't take any room when you stuff the pail full of socks, etc. Then we leave the toys behind in the last port. cb at sea Posted December 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2008 Just pack them! You can stuff socks, underwear, bathing suits, etc... into them, so it's not "wasted space"! And, with kids that young, you'll be surprised how few toys they'll need to be happy at the beach! A stick makes a great digging tool, big 'ole leaves make roofs for castles, shells, rocks....their imagination can make toys out of anything! crusinmama06 Posted December 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2008 I pack them. I have no desire to pay the $25 for dollar store sand toys. :D
ShedQueen77 Posted December 11, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted December 11, 2008 Thanks guys! I'll check out the dollar store tomorrow. I don't know how much luck I'll have finding them in December in Iowa, but I'll sure try! :D

I'm so glad there is someone out there that can think for me, because my brain is shot these days! lol Never even thought of that. We'll be in Tampa a day early. I'll ask at the hotel desk and see if they can direct us to a store. DUH!! :o Thanks, Michele! :)

calikak Posted December 11, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2008 Just got back from a cruise out of Miami--our hotel was right by a Walgreens and it had sand toys (and lots of other toys, too). This was at a hotel near the airport.
