Chrispmoto Posted December 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2008 I think we have our gameplan for St Martin. But if we get back early, is there lots (anything ?) to do near the terminal? Places to shop, eat, etc. Thank you.
The Big Booper Posted December 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2008 There are several large stores at the pier, including Boolchands, the large camera and electronics store, and some of the jewelry stores. On your way out in the morning find out when they will close for the day. If the ships are in, they will be open. Eating, some small snack kiosks and a convience store, not much else. willysgrandma Posted December 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2008 You can also take the 5 minute ferry to do some shopping.
The Big Booper Posted December 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2008 If you are coming back from someplace and want to shop downtown, just have the driver drop you off on Front Street and then just take the water taxi back. Phillipsburg starts closing down before dark and this is winter with shorter daylight hours. Expect all the stores to be closed by 6 PM, downtown. Perfect. Just what I needed. Thank you. Where would I go to get the best view of the bay that the ships dock at?

Take the water taxi in. It peels off from the Wathey Cruise Ship Pier and arrows in to the downtown Wathey Town Pier at Wathey Square. AC Wathey must have been / is an important person here. Spectacular view of the harbor. For taking pictures of the Wathey Pier (off Pointe Blanche, lower right) where the ships are, use the Boardwalk in Phillipsburg. This runs along the beach at Great Bay.
Chrispmoto Posted December 16, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Thank you Big Booper. We are planning on going to Mullet Bay on our day in St Martin. I think we will get dropped off at Front Street on our way back and hang out for a bit, then take the water taxi back to the ship.
