jaydee Posted April 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We are thinking of booking on the Adventure for next March 27. The RCCL web site shows in the itinerary for this date that the Adventure tenders into St. Maarten. But other dates for this ship they show it docking. What is up with that? Kelina Posted April 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2004 It has been a couple of years since I went on AOS, but at that time, we docked in St Maarten. In fact we didn't tender once. I would call RCCI and ask! It is a truely amazing ship! Kelina December 15 Adventure of The Seas!!! Rhapsody of the Seas Rhapsody BIRTHDAY CRUISE - Happy Birthday To Me! justcruzin85374 Posted April 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We were just there on the Brilliance, the dock is huge.....maybe shallow waters? Not sure why tenders for AOS. TrentS Posted April 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2004 The dock in St. Maarten is big, but only big enough for 4 large ships, if a 5th ship is in port one of them will have to anchor and tender... Perhaps that's the case on that particular cruise. Jimbo Posted April 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We are also tendering in a few weeks on Adventure of the Seas. Really it might be a good thing because that pier is so far from town anyway you either need to pay a taxi to get into town or pay for a ferry type boat that takes you from where the cruise ships docks to the other dock that is right next to town. With the ship tendering you I'm sure they will drop everyone off at that pier right in town and not the new pier that was built farther out. I really think it's a good thing, don't worry about it shouldn't be a problem. amkras Posted April 21, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We docked there 2 weeks ago but as someone else suggested it might be a question of too many ships for the pier. There was on one other when we were there. I had that experience several years ago in St Thomas.
TonyaJune Posted April 21, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We were there in January on the AOS and docked at the pier. The pier has been redone and there were 2 huge ships docked the day were there. UNTIL I SET SAIL ON THE JEWEL OF THE SEAS
antomoli Posted April 21, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I was on the AOS last April 4-11, for the fourth time. AOS has never tendered in those ocassions. There is the possibilty that for your particular sailing the pier is at its full capacity and AOS is forced to lay at anchor. Days until my 4th. abridalmaven Posted April 22, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2004 When we went last May we were the sole ship in port so we docked. It depends on how many other are there and who is scheduled to arrive first. Rare whitshel Posted April 22, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2004 were on the explorer in Oct 2004 and we will also be tendering, i checked other ships itiniaries and there will be at least 5 ships in port that day, i think it was the glory, caribbean princess, galaxy, a HAL ship and the explorer, I assume that s why we tender there. I'm not sure why RCCL tenders and not another brand but thats the way it is.
