theump Posted April 10, 2009 #84 Share Posted April 10, 2009 Love following your post and seeing all the good information and pictures you put on here. Have received a couple of your post in answer to mine and PXY CDA questions before and take the info to heart. We will be there for one day in early May and really looking forward to the visit. We have plans that day and want also to see the monkeys. Maybe we will get lucky and see some as we wonder around. We are doing the turtle project in the morning then a beach and some sight seeing. Have to see that big tree in Queens park. But looking at your pictures and post agee we need a week there to really see and enjoy the island. Maybe next vacation will be a land one instead of a cruise. Will use this trip to chaeck out the different islands but really like the look of Barbados. Keep up the great work and post. Glad to hear I'm keeping you amused and informed! The big (wide around...not that tall) African BAOBAB Tree in Queens Park has a brother in the WARRENS area along the road to Jackson. It's down in the dip,on the Western edge of the road to Jackson no more than about 150 yds. North of the roundabout where you come off the ABC Hiway, tell your driver ...at the end of the big ole high coral stone wall that surrounds the old Warrens Pltn. Carib. cruise, but I could've swore it said Barbados ;) and I didn't see anything as beautiful as what your pictures look like! Here are a few of my "memorable" photos of Barbados.....but not nearly as good as yours..... We did the Malibu Rum Distillery and Beach.....we got showered on 3 times.:( But it was an interesting tour!
NCSunshine Posted April 13, 2009 #87 Share Posted April 13, 2009 (edited) The sun was out and the sky was blue, we were at Carlisle Bay in Barbados. There was a very dark cloud above the sea, but you could still see the blue sky and the sea was beautiful. http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/showfull.php?photo=8867 Edited April 13, 2009 by NCSunshine picture

tkilrainrn Posted May 3, 2009 #91 Share Posted May 3, 2009 Aplmac...Your pictures are so beautiful it almost brings tears to my eyes. I have never been to Barbados before but can't wait till I get there. We will be there in November of this year. The beaches are breathtaking and I can't decide where to go. I really would like to swim with the turtles and then spend the rest of the day at the beach. Are the turtles close to the beach or do you need to go out on a boat to reach them? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of Barbados. It is very helpful. Terri

KuffMUp Posted May 12, 2009 #93 Share Posted May 12, 2009 That's kinda hard to do... but here's... ..your chairs and umbrella waiting at Accra/Rockley :) . Do you have a UV filter on the camera? Your photos are so vivid!
swom Posted May 13, 2009 #94 Share Posted May 13, 2009 We LOVED Rockley beach. Waves were a little more than we were expecting, but nice beach. I think next time we will try the beach where the turtles hang out. Another passenger on our ship said snorkeling was good there and we didn't even try to snorkel at Rockley. Our guide said there wasn't any there. Still it was a lovely beach and we enjoyed it greatly.
Aplmac Posted May 13, 2009 Author #95 Share Posted May 13, 2009 Do you have a UV filter on the camera? Your photos are so vivid! The front end of the Sigma 10-20 zoom carries a 77 mm. UV filter yes..but the lens itself is very good(too good?) on the blues and cyan's. That's the vivid you see. .
Aplmac Posted May 13, 2009 Author #96 Share Posted May 13, 2009 We LOVED Rockley beach. Waves were a little more than we were expecting, but nice beach. I think next time we will try the beach where the turtles hang out. ===> West Coast. Another passenger on our ship said snorkeling was good there and we didn't even try to snorkel at Rockley. Our guide said there wasn't any there. ===> Not true. Still it was a lovely beach and we enjoyed it greatly. The popular local perception is that there's no snorkelling to be had at Rockley Beach/Accrabut there is a man-made barrier reef about 150 yds. offshore, up the Eastern end of the bay that's been there now for about 15 years! In that time is has attracted considerable marine growth, sea fans, fish and baby lobster! It's worth a look if you're a keen experienced snorkeller and if you work its inner and outer lengths, you get to see two different reefs! although I usually do just the inside. Somewhere in these Barbados threads we had one guy who followed my recommendation to snorkel that boulder-reef and he wrote in to say he was completely wowed! If you must do Accra(can't blame you!) -and someone in your party must get in some snorkelling this barrier reef is not bad snorkelling! Not great I grant you, but not bad either! The water's usually reasonably clear since Rockley is a well-flushed bay so give it a try! Would the next person please re-educate the local tour guide. Really. ;) Thanks! . aloha43 Posted May 14, 2009 #97 Share Posted May 14, 2009 I love this one. I took one similar in Hawaii. Except ours had 2 sets of feet! :D But it was taken the other direction.....facing the beach and water.
gr82cu2 Posted May 15, 2009 #98 Share Posted May 15, 2009 Happy feet in the powdery fine sand in Barbados :D Sunset as we sailed away from beautiful Barbados :( :p The good news is we are going back to Barbados!!! Yahoo!!!! We found it to be absolutely beautiful there and want more time to see more of the island and its beauty. We will be returning next May and staying for 5 or 6 nights before boarding the Sea Princess back to Ft. Lauderdale by way of Aruba, Bonaire and Grenada. I can't wait!!
