cujosmom Posted November 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2004 The ship docks at 8:00 AM in Boston. The flight we are looking at LEAVES at 11:44 AM. With a possible delay in the ship clearing customs (or other possible delay), can we get off, get a taxi and get to the airport in enough time to check our luggage, etc to make that flight? Tatka Posted November 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2004 Airport is very close to the port in Boston...so I thin you'll make it.
Smiles Posted November 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2004 but security is a nightmare (most times). Having been embarrassed with most of the 9/11 terrorist coming throught the airport, the security has REALLY REALLY been beefed up in Boston. If there are several flights at that time--to ANY destination, then I probably would not chance it. But, you miss the morning rush...and your time seems less likely to put strain on security staff. Probably safe at that time; but no guarantee. Good luck if you choose to go.

If you choose to try it, keep one thing in mind, the TSA requires you to arrive at the airport 1 1/2 hours prior to scheduled departure for domestic travel. Therefore, if you do not get to the airport by 10:15 A.M. (regardless of the reason), and you do not clear the security checkpoints in time to make your flight, you will not get any sympathy from the TSA or the airlines. I have seen people miss their flights because they arrived to close to their departure time and security didn't cut them any slack (neither did the airlines). hoogie Posted November 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2004 We frequently fly out of boston and shoot to be there 1.5 hours in advance and usually end up sitting at the gate for an hour or more. If your ship has internet access and your airline allows online check in then print your boarding passes the night before. Then all you have to do is check in your bags and go through security. mcaron Posted November 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2004 Don't sweat iy you will have plenty of time to make that flight, even if you get off the ship at 10:00 am, you are a ten Minute ride to the airport. Do not believe that 1.5 hour time frame.
