Perki Posted January 5, 2009 #26 Share Posted January 5, 2009 We did Carrie B after our cruise last year to 'waste some time' before our late afternoon flight home and it was THE BEST way to end our vacation! The homes they show you along the water way are just to die for and it was nice to go by the cruise ships in port and see all the people just getting ready to go on their vacations (bitter sweet since ours just ended of course). It is a great way to spend a few hours for certain!
Nik Posted January 18, 2009 #27 Share Posted January 18, 2009 We fly out later Sat. night and are interested in spending some time on the beach. We have rented a car to get around and store luggage. Any recommendations on which area to go to? Washroom facilities would be beneficial.

If you go across from Beachplace, you'll have the convenience of the bathrooms there.

Secluded, less populated then Ft Lauderdale beach, John U Lloyd State Park. Mile long beach, plenty of showers, lockers, changing rooms etc, stop by the supermarket and pick up a picnic lunch or there's a concession stand for food and pontoon boat rentals to explore the intracoastal if you desire. Great vantage point to see the ships from. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=john+u+lloyd+state+park&sll=25.790772,-80.283108&sspn=0.111285,0.153809&ie=UTF8&ll=26.072589,-80.113077&spn=0.055509,0.076904&z=14&iwloc=A /////

Since I will have a car the night before the cruise, do you think that this is the best place for watching the ship depart? Can you drive down close to the Northern point as indicated on the map? We are thinking that it might be a fun experience. Or do you know a better place? Will we have enough time before the park closes to see some of the ships sail? Thanks.
