LOWTYD Posted January 5, 2009 #52 Share Posted January 5, 2009 Did any one buy cigarettes or liqour on this one nighter? And if so what prices? Thank you. One of our group got a big bottle of Baily's for $19.99 (I think that is what she said) that is the cost for the smallest bottle around here and some Godiva, not sure what she paid for that. No smokers so I can't help you with the cigs.
hazeleyes Posted January 5, 2009 #53 Share Posted January 5, 2009 The prices of the liquor were discount but not by much. The stores were mobbed with people buying liquor and cigarettes. There was no limit on how much you could purchase and we did not have to fill out the customs cards to declair anything. So happy shopping to those of you who like to shop. We purchased 2 bottles of Grey Goose at 29.95 each bottle, 1 bottle of Jose Cuervo Tequila gold $17.95, 1 bottle of Bacardi rum $11.95, one bottle of Baileys Irish Cream $19.95 and one bottle of Godiva Liqueur which was $24.95. When we sailed recently on NCL we saw way better prices then on the one nighter.
hazeleyes Posted January 5, 2009 #54 Share Posted January 5, 2009 Cigs were 24.95 a carton, i didnt buy any but others on the line were. They had just about every brand i can imagine there. Cigs and liquor went fast. So get there early if you have a specific type you prefer. The more popular brands were flying off the shelves and they person at the register was telling everyone that they wouldnt have more to replenish what was sold till the next sailing. So i suggest you go early! I went just as soon as they opened up.
monteman Posted January 5, 2009 #55 Share Posted January 5, 2009 I have a question...what is the lowest CAT. that can use the Private Courtyard area? I believe the AA (Owners Suite) is the lowest category allowed to use the Courtyard. I know the ABs can't.

GMCOLT Posted January 7, 2009 #58 Share Posted January 7, 2009 Four of us went and had a great time. my seven year grandson had a blast. Kids crew was open. I took a couple pictures on the pool deck as I got a kick out of how much activity was going on on a winter sailing. I love sailing out of New York. There is so much to see going out. As we passed ground zero the singer sang god Bless America on deck. I thought that was a wonderful touch. The crew was freindly and clearly working hard. Yes the service was slow in grand Pacific at lunch. I think part of that was the large crowd compared to a normal cruise. The Buffet was a breeze at dinner. The food was very good at both. I found the casino to be busy, but their staff were great. Breakfast was crazy, but,as someone else said seating could be found. My son and grandson enjoyed the show. The one nighter is a great getaway and as people have said, it cannot be compared to a normal cruise. I thought it was a fun crowd.
TVLady3 Posted January 15, 2009 #59 Share Posted January 15, 2009 Just got back from a 1night Cruise on the Gem...was nice they had plenty to do...a little crowded. Actually very crowded...you had to see the line in the dining room for Breakfast...never seen anything like it. They had food all day and night..can't complain there...always good food available with a lot to choose from. The Gem is so beautiful was glad to be back on her. They still had Christmas decorations up which was nice. Would I do it again? Yes if the price is right...I wouldn't spend too much for 1night....Below I have posted a link to the Freestyle, if you read everything it shows you the new price for bowling which is $10per game....also the new tips charge which is $12pp pd. Sorry if this is fast and not much information i'm sick been sick since yesterday afternoon and I need to go lay down. I thought there was lots to do on the 1night. Too bad I couldn't do much because of how I felt. It was a nice night away! http://i43.tinypic.com/2ikw49j.jpg Freestyle page 1 http://i39.tinypic.com/5lcpcj.jpg page 2 http://i41.tinypic.com/v8mxyp.jpg page 3 http://i43.tinypic.com/4t7kg7.jpg page 4 http://i41.tinypic.com/xazbpi.jpg Debark information! Ask me anything I will try my best to give an answer! Just bumping this thread up for those of you going on the 1 nighter 1/24th. Alot of good info including all the Freestyle Dailys. I missed the singing, everytime we leave out of NY it's a colder time of year...next time we leave out of NY i'm going to have to hear the band...that would be really nice to hear. ma_t_gus Posted January 18, 2009 #64 Share Posted January 18, 2009 I've been on 7 1-nighters out of NYC. Enjoy every single one of them. 2 - Dawn 5 - Spirit 1 - Gem Even though the Dawn and Spirit are smaller than the Gem, it never felt crowded on the Dawn and Spirit. The reason was that the weather was beautiful ( sunny and warm ) when I was on the Spirit and Dawn. Everybody was outside, so the dinning rooms were never crowded. Common sense dictate that if it is cold outside, everyone will be inside. My wife and I knew that the buffets and main dining rooms were going to be crowded on the Gem so we decided to have a late dinner ( 9:30 ) at Orchids. Late dinner since, we were snacking all day long anyway. We even stopped at Blue Lagoon twice :) After dinner, straight to the clubs until 2am. Unfortunately they only have 1 - 1-nighter in Apr 30 '09 on the Dawn and it's on a Thurs night. The price on that we probably go down to $99. I'm keeping an eye out for it. Then right after that is a 2 nighter in May 1 '09. I don't think the price will go down on that one but I'm keeping an eye on it as well, just in case. criscruise Posted January 21, 2009 #65 Share Posted January 21, 2009 Thanks for the dailies. It helps with some of the planning. Anyone that drove and used the overnight parking? Did you have any problems getting a space?

Did you have any problems getting a space? Space was easy to find...though we did have to park in Pier 90 and then walk to pier 88.
