oakrunfarm Posted January 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2009 Good morning. We'll be arriving on Barbados at 7:30 and leaving at 5 on Celebrity Summit. There are two of us who would love to spend the entire day on a gorgeous beach, and two ladies in their 70's who are avid people-watchers, but not interested in sunning. I was hoping to combine the beach and lunch, and then head to either town for some shopping, or a beach bar for some liming. We've been to Barbados once before and went to the caves, on a rum tour and then downtown to Bridgetown. We aren't huge shoppers, but it would be nice to tool around somewhere in some little shops and bars. Another option might be a short island tour after the beach as we did not see much of the island last trip. What would be your recommendations for: 1. Best beach to visit with a place the older ladies could sip drinks and stay out of the sun, where we can be in relative proximity to them and hang on the beach for a few hours. 2. Easy access where not too terribly much walking to get there is involved. 3. Best place for lunch on the beach (good food is a MUST) that is close by above (Love local food in particular, but fresh seafood is great too). 4. Most beautiful and tranquil beach scenic-wise, but still enough people-watching for the ladies to be entertained. 5. Recommendation for sights to see or shops/local bars to visit - best would be something not too terribly far from ship pier Thanks SO much! :)
Aplmac Posted January 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2009 You want everything, don't you. All the pluses, none of the Minuses. One word. Accra. 15 mins. away from the dock, and the taxi can drop you 30-40 yds. away from where you'll set up camp under the low shade-trees fringing a part of the beach where you could rent chairs and park the old girls under those trees you see off to the right of this shot
IHATESNOW Posted January 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Aplmac You have me giving second thoughts about Accra now vs Crane. It looks pretty sweet without slicing so much time out of our day.
oakrunfarm Posted January 6, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 6, 2009 You want everything, don't you.All the pluses, none of the Minuses. Well, unless there are a pair of leopard-thong-clad bronzed Greek god types to put lotion on my back, fan me with palm fronds, feed me frozen grapes, and spritz me with ice water, then it's not everything. (But thanks for the tip on Accra - it looks great!) Is there a good place there at Accra for lunch and drinks that also rents chairs and umbrellas? Thanks! :D
