feenix Posted January 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Hi, can we use the computers on aos (not the computers used to run the ship, just the ones that are available to people with tickets) to move digital pics from our camera to cds, in case we run out of memory card space? We were hoping to leave our computer at home. thanks.
wrp96 Posted January 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2009 You can't use the computers in the internet cafe to do it yourself as you don't have access to the drives or USB ports. But you can go to the photo shop and get them to make a CD for a charge.
cruiseguy1016 Posted January 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Buy an extra memory card or two and leave the computer home.
ginger2000 Posted January 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Has anyone ever had a problem bringing a laptop on board?
wrp96 Posted January 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2009 I bring my laptop on all my cruises. No problems at all.
JLC@SD Posted January 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2009 I bring my laptop all the time...no problem. However.....with the low cost of memory today, no one should have to tranfer to a CD. Memory is cheap, and you can buy 8 gig memory sticks that hold thousands of photos.
ginger2000 Posted January 9, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks. Is there as safe or some where I can store it without worrying about it being stolen? Or am I just worrying too much??
The Big Booper Posted January 9, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks. Is there as safe or some where I can store it without worrying about it being stolen? Or am I just worrying too much??[/quote] You said it. Just leave the extra memory cards in the safe. I always just leave them in a drawer or the camera bag. I leave the camera in the safe. For what you would pay for the ship to make a CD or DVD you can buy a high capacity memory card, on sale.
feenix Posted January 9, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks for the info. Our camera takes such high quality pics that it uses more space than most. But I think we will get another memory card.
fungirl28 Posted January 9, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 9, 2009 When I bring my laptop, I store it with clothes, just in case that stateroom attendant leaves the door open as he's cleaning it. I've never had a problem, but if you don't feel comfortable bringing yours, then just bring extra memory cards.
