erin_cruisers Posted April 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2004 My daughter has asked me to send her a postcard from every port we visit. That's easy, but she also asked me to send her one from 'the ship'. Does anyone know if, on RCI ships, you can actually post letters, and if so, do they wait untill the end of the cruise to offload mail? Or do they offload at the various ports of call? (Sorry if this has been ansered elsewhere, but I looked and couldn't find the info..) Grandeur of the Seas 05-31-
Coralc Posted April 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2004 The ship drops off a bag of mail at each port. You can purchase stamps at the pursers desk which are specific to each country the ship will be visiting. The mail bag goes off early in the day, so you will need to drop off your postcard at the mail box either the night before or before you go ashore in the early morning. You can send her a postcard of the ship, but it will be mailed from whichever port you choose.
madforcruising Posted April 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2004 BTW there is usually a mail drop off box right next to the Pursers deck (well it was like this the ships I´ve been on, not sure if on the other ships, too). If you purchase your own stamps make sure you have the right stamps for the country you stop next. erin_cruisers Posted April 22, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Okay, Excellent! Thanks pbhunt and madforcruising, for the info. Our first port is Cape (Port) Canaveral, so I'll select and 'mail' our first postcard the first day, so it goes out right away. I can pick up US postage at Baltimore before we leave if I have too. My daughter is almost as excited as we are (and she's not going) We promised her - Next time! Grandeur of the Seas 05-31-
