NKOTB Carnival Cruise?

According to news accounts, the New Kids On the Block will be on a 3 night Bahamas cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale on May 19th. The accounts say that it will be on a Carnival ship but don't identify which one. Since Carnival does not normally cruise from Port Everglands and since the quoted prices are high and there is no mention of such a cruise on their website, I think it must be a chartered cruise. Does anyone have any more details? I don't fit their fan demographic but thought some on here might have an interest.:)

Yes, it is true!!!! They're on Carnival Imagination going to Nassau and you're right it is pretty expensive for a 3 day cruise. However, there will be a concert, meet and greet, parties, etc. They are selling out extremely fast and only have a few ocean view cabins left, so if you're interested you better book NOW.

Just kinda curious...

I have never heard of anything like this being done before. How would they 'manage' something like this? I mean with all of the fans on board.. I couldn't imagine the NKOTB being able to walk freely around the cruise without being mobbed my girls or something lol. Do they have scheduled activities? Private areas for only NKOTB? Lots of security??

What are your thoughts/experiences on this?

I read an article on the Bare Naked Ladies' annual Naked Cruise (and yes, they do get naked). The band is on the ship, there have a lot of the normal activities (karaoke, deck games, casino tournaments) and some specialty ones (Rock Band where the guys from the band participated), a memorabilia auction, aerobics with the guys to BNL music, and usually a concert or two. And yeah, there was apparently a good bit of security with the band. It's becoming a more and more common activity for band fan clubs. I know Queen's FC (yeah, they still have one) has done cruises for years but they booked as a group and didn't buy out the whole ship so the cost was a lot cheaper. I think if it means getting a unique experience with a band you really, really like, it can be a worthwhile experience. But I would never pay that much money to just hang out with other fans.

I'm so mad, I'm sailing on the imagination in a little over 2 weeks, i wish i could reschedule for the new kids cruise! It's like they're teasing me, of all the ships in the world, they're sailing on mine, and I'm sailing BEFORE them so I can't even walk around the ship saying "Maybe they sat here.... maybe they sang here...."

But I wouldnt pay those prices!!! Well maybe I would LOL....

At first I couldn't imagine paying that much to go on a 3 day cruise with 2000 other crazy new kids fans, but i did it. I just clicked purchase without putting too much thought into it. I have loved them 4ever and i figure i better do it now before it's too late. I love to cruise and have been on 6 cruises with my fiance, we actually got engaged on our last cruise. He's not too happy that I am going with a friend of mine and leaving him at home, although he would never consider joining me on this one. Has anyone else booked?

In addition to Ships n Dip (the BNL cruise), a company called Sixthman (sixthman.net) does several others as well: a John Mayer cruise, the Rockboat, Cayamo (Lyle Lovett and Emmylou Harris with other singer/songwriters) and a Lynrd Skynrd cruise. I've been on several of the Rockboats and they are a blast (but much less expensive that that NKOTB cruise - which is NOT a Sixthman production).

Maybe NKOTB are different than other celebrities but lots of celebs go on cruises. I took a country cruise to Hawaii with Craig Morgan (country singer) and we had meet & greet and I sat about 10 feet from him and his family. No mobs, no security, no crazy fans than rushed & attacked lol. Maybe cuz we're grown ups. He did a special concert for us in the auditorium and we saw him on various excursions. We sat on the plane with his family too. Just normal people.

mobbed? By girls? I think you mean 30 something women. Its not 1987 anymore! I am joking of course.

A friend of mine was taking her 7 year old to go see them here in Houston and was in Claire's (the store that sells stuff for girls) and asked the cashier if they had any NKOTB tee shirts so that her daughter would have one to wear at the concert. The cashier said no, and when asked if she knew where to find one the cashier said yeah, try 1987.

I have really been wanting to do the barenaked ladies cruise and hope to one day go on it. They do release a CD of the show every year though which is pretty cool, in the first one they have a lot of cruise stories to tell that are pretty funny. Like paying by the minute for internet time and forgetting to log off, only to come back to their room 7 hours later and realizing they have a $315 internet charge.

Yeah, they have definately expanded their fan base that is why I said "girls"...some younger girls now are into them. Also, I am sure some of those 20 and 30 something women would also try to mob them haha

I am sure that most NKOTB fans are in their 30s, or almost, so I wouldn't think it would be like a bunch of teens running around attacking them, but you never know...

Im a little confused about some things:

One) New Kids on the Block are still around?

Two) New Kids on the Block have fans?

Three) There are people paying extra to get on a ship with New kids on the Block? Donnie Wahlberg should pay extra to cruise with me!

Four) When is the Menudo cruise?
