Teen experience on NCL Med cruise (Jade)?

Have forever to wait but interested to hear what sort of experience your Teen had on an NCL Med cruise - Jade or other ship.

Did counselors do a good job keeping the kids interested and run any organized activities?

Dinners, dances, seeing the shows together?

Did they have Teen type movies in the teen room?

We're booked March 2010 which may be during a lot of spring breaks in the US so am hoping there will be plenty of teens.

Any comparisons with Princess Teen program. We've done Princess 4 times and DD loved their program.

Appreciate anything you can share. Thanks!

Just off the Jade's Med Holiday cruise - 14 days.

We hardly saw our 14 yo DS on the ship - he had a ball being with the other teens he met on the ship via the Teen Club (good crowd). They did all sorts of things - activities or not. They even attended more shows that we did (:o).

They played cards and board games, and soccer and basketball.

They were not in the tenns club the whole time - they spent met up and spent time in various parts of ship. They had lunch together, and dinner too (Garden Cafe).

On final night the counsellers "took" them out to farewell dinner in the Grand Pacific dining room (the main one), and they were told NOT to wear jeans! :D

Each night they ended up in the Wipe Out - teen disco - and it went on until wee hours.

We were glad for him having good time (he's an only child and we are old fogeys (the 'been there done that') and it gave us a chance to have dinners on our own whenever and wherever we wanted.

Which part of March? If you're cruising ar end of March early APril there'll be British and European kids on their Easter school holiday.

Thanks for the info!

We're set to cruise 3/7/10 so too early for the Easter holiday but a lot of the US schools and colleges will be at the height of spring break.

Sounds like Princess a lot. On our NYE cruise, she spent a little time in the teen center but more traveling in their pack and 'lighting' here or there around the ship for talk or board games.

Wish we could do this trip over the Christmas/NY holidays but much, much pricier.

What ports did your cruise go to?

We cruised on the Norwegian Jade in Sept 08 with our 2 daughters aged 12 and 15. We all had a wonderful time, though my girls were not interested in joining the teen club. At the time of year we sailed there were not a lot of English speaking kids on board as it was not school holidays in US or England. If you are interested in my reviews, there are links in my signature below. Hope you have a great cruise!:):)

Doubtful if the US college kids can afford to fly over to the Med cruise. BTW they are older than teens, so this won't do. Are you actually pulling your DD out of school for the cruise ?

Yes, our DS did the same more or less. His 'crowd' was pleasant and they all talked in same wavelength so DS had a good time. There were lots of teens but they somewhat split into crowds/packs.

Wish we could do this trip over the Christmas/NY holidays but much, much pricier. Yeppers but we have to plan around our DS's school vacations. BUT we love holiday cruises - we've been on 4 Xmas/NY cruises - ouchies!!

What ports did your cruise go to? Do you really want to know ... okay here it goes - departed from Barcelona (fantastic city) - Rome - Naples (Pompeii, Sorrento and Amalfi) - Alexandria (Cairo) - Rhodes - IZmire Turkey (Ephesus) - Athens - Malta - back to Barcelona. We were so glad to have gone on this cruise - each port was incredible and we do not have a favourite or least favourite port!! We would repeat the cruise (and do something different in each port)!

Any way you can change your cruise??
