Venice - Sharing a Water taxi?

Recommended Posts

Given the outrageous cost of water taxis from Marco Polo into Venice I am wondering whether we could start a thread that permitted passengers to hook up with others on the same flight who are going to similar destinations? Just a thought....

We actually took the ACTV public bus from the Airport to Venice because we arrived too late to take the boat across. The number 5. Cost was €1.10 for the trip. I have to say that it was quite easy to take and they had spaces for luggage on the bus. But you need to handle your own luggage on the bus.

There is also the ATVO flybus which was €3.00 but essentially went to the same place. They have place for luggage, so it's easier if you aren't the DIY luggage carrier type.

There was the Alilaguna, which was no longer running when we got there. They run from €6 to €12 depending on where you are travelling.

Do you happen to know how many can fit in a water taxi? We are arriving on May 17th and we are a party of 6 with much luggage. I am hoping that there will be plenty of room for all of us and our luggage. I haven't had any experience with flying into Venice, even though I have been there.

I am not interested in ANY of the public transportation options. I do want to take a taxi. I talked with someone on the trip advisor and they said something about a desk at the airport where you find one? Anyone have any information on that?

Thanks...:)

Hylasgirl, look at this website to see info on the water taxis from the airport. There are different sizes of water taxis, from our early research it looked like 6 and luggage would be fine. If you don't see the desk in the airport, it is supposed to be easy to see, then you can just go down to the water taxi area and deal with arrangements there. Depending on where you are staying, you may even want to have them make the arrangements for you, some water taxis won't go to all hotels.
