Flyinman Posted January 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2009 My family will be sailing on VOS March 15th for the first time. I have booked an Owner's Suite and have been in one on several other ships but not VOS. We are in suite 1300 and looking for information regarding noise levels either above or room to room. I have been on some ships that are very quiet while others I can hear everything going on next door. Also any other info to throw in about the suite and ship will be helpful. Thanks, J
cb at sea Posted January 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2009 You shouldn't have noise issues in that cabin--the newer ships are fairly well insulated against noise. Just like at home, it will never be completely silent, and you'll be able to hear it when folks let their doors slam shut, or are carrying on while walking past your door....none of this should be annoying! CAT GIRL Posted January 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2009 We were in 1314 just last week. I'm happy to say that we never heard either neighbor--ever! When I did catch them in the hallway I asked if they could hear our TV or music and they both said no. Now I did hear some noise from up above this time. It must have been a cart up by the ice cream machine. Nothing too major and my sound machine blocked it out. I was pleasantly surprised by a few extra perks on this cruise for suites. The champagne in the embarkation area was a very nice touch to start off the cruise. And for debarkation the suites meet in the Seville dining room and have a hot breakfast set up with waiters. Much nicer than dealing with the windjammer and faster than ordering in the main dining room. Martin, the concierge comes and escorts you off the ship when it's time. The whole disembarkation process seemed to be much more organized. I didn't see the normal crowd of people camped out by the door waiting to be called. Oh, I almost forgot, something that really impressed me. When I stepped into the CL for the first time, Martin addressed me by name before we had ever met! Nice touch. He will be in contact with you via voice mail often throughout the cruise and I found he had excellant follow up with any desires/concerns we had. We didn't find the CL very crowded but then again we have late seating so perhaps we missed the crowd. Martin spent part of his time upstairs but there was always a bartender to pour us a drink. We always found a place to sit down with plenty of empty chairs. I'm sure your weather will be better than ours was. We didn't get in the pool or ocean once. But on the positive side we really got our money's worth for our room this time. Let me know if you have any questions.
Flyinman Posted January 23, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks for the replies. Oh yes I am not expecting completely silent but we were on the Rhapsody a couple of years ago and heard the kids, parents, etc. at all hours of the night. The Serenade was a bit different as we never heard neighbors but did hear carts above us which was not a big deal. Good to hear you had a great cruise as my least 2 cruises on RCCL have been less than par. Thanks, J

But I actually prefer the room layout better. They Voyager class seems to be more soundproof.
