Yeah! I just bought 101 shares of CCL for my IRA. I checked into it last year and the price was too high for me. The deadline to mail in statements showing ownership is 2-28-09 for cruises through 7-31-09.

Actually, you must make your reservation by 2/28/09 according to the information on their website, for cruise through 7/31/09.:) I assume that, like RCCL, they evaluate and renew the benefit annually.

Me too. Bought 100 shares of CCL at ~19 something a week or so ago. With $100 on-board credit, it's the equivalent of a ~5% dividend. (Carnival suspended the dividends last year to preserve capital.) This next 6 months could be ugly for share prices if they have to deep-discount to sell tickets. But I have hope that over the long run, cruises will become even more popular, margins will increase, and shares will rise. And hopefully in the future there will be more freebies for shareholders who cruise. :rolleyes:

 

But stocks are not for everyone; don't buy unless you have a long investment horizon and have done your homework. Talk to your investment advisor. It's like gambling in the ship's casino -- don't place a bet unless you are prepared to lose it. ;)

Absolutely, this was my IRA and I had the cash in my account, which earned about 30 cents last year lol (which was higher than my other stocks).

Bought 100 shares last october, that got me $100 in January and'll get me anouther $100 next month. 10% return in 3 months LOL

This question may have already been asked, but if you are a shareholder and purchase 2 cabins on the same cruise, do you get one flat rate as an OBC or is it that amount for each cabin? Thanks!

?I got a dividend in Dec08 from Carnival, just double checked to make sure, and it was there.

Carnival paid the Dec. dividend, but suspended dividend payments starting in 2009.

WOW, I bought shares on Monday afternoon, faxed my online trade confirmation on Tuesday and an OBC was posted on Wednesday. Cruise leaves Saturday.

 

I figured I was too late, but gave it a try - talk about excellent customer service!

What is the fax number, were going on the Valor in April. I'd like to take advantage of the obc.
