Help with San Juan photo

Can someone please help me.

I am working on my scrapbook from my November cruise. Upon returning to San Juan we took a segway tour in San Juan.

One photo I took was of an "entrance" to Old San Juan.

The top of the archway says

"BENEDICIUS OUI VENIT

IN NOMINE DOMINI"

Can someone please translate this for me. I know they told us and it is something like "bless all who enter here"

thank you very much.

Now I have a photo of a statue that I would like to know if someone knows what it is.

We did the segway tour with Jose', just wish I could have taped his wife, she was so full of information on San Juan. Wish I could remember just a portion of it.

One of my favorite stories (and statues). It's called La Rogativa (rogation or supplication). It commemorates an incident back in 1797, when the bishop organized a torchlight procession to ask God for protection from the British invaders. All he could muster up were women and children, because the men were off fighting. However, when the British saw the torches from afar, they thought it was a Spanish regiment and were scared off.

It's a beautiful little square (my cousin used to live in the green house facing the square :)) and has incredible views of the walls & bay.
