Silverspoon Posted February 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2009 ...go to NCL's private island, Great Stirrup Cay, or Key West? Assuming you were given a choice?
Ms belp Posted February 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Key West! We went to Nassau once instead of GSC and enjoyed it as well!
Dukegirl5577 Posted February 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I do like the idea of a free beach day on GSC, but Key West has much more to offer from an interesting port perspective.
Mooder Posted February 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I voted Key West, not becasue I don't like GSC - I do very much!! But I have never been to KW and was disappointed when it was removed from our itinerary last year. So, it remains on my "wanna see" list.
Illinitrvlr Posted February 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Definitely Key West:D
Arwenmark Posted February 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Key West absolutely, I wish they spent more time there. One thing about the private Islands of all the cruiselines, except Disney, you may or may not be able to visit it based on wind conditions and they miss it as often as not. I love Key West though. But no beaches really.
travel_lover Posted February 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I've been to GSC a few times, never Key West so my choice is obvious...somewhere new would be nice! :p
terrymtex01 Posted February 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Since we have been to GSC twice, I think I would rather got to Key West given the chance. Although I don't want you to get me wrong, we enjoy GSC, just would be nice to see Key West.
watchdiva Posted February 4, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 4, 2009 On our upcoming cruise, we won't even tender over to GSC - we plan to stay onboard and relax. We've been lucky enough to stop quite a few times at GSC but now it's "been there/done that". I would definitely opt for Key West - there's always so much to do and we love just hanging out in one of the outdoor restaurants and people watching! We did that on our last trip to GSC it was so nice we just enjoyed the ship...had lunch...no problem finding chairs right by the pool!;)

To me, even if it's a beach I've been to before, a beach always beats the ship's pool. Always.

I guess we just felt like lounging around with no crowds or noise....this time I think will be getting off though.
LOWTYD Posted February 4, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 4, 2009 BRING BACK KW! I did enjoy my romp at GSC but I love KW and I have lots of other things to do their beside beaching it since they really don't have a great beach. I too was disappointed when they removed it from the GEM itinerary.:( Sandy
Azure Moon Posted February 4, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 4, 2009 On the cruise last week, Great Stirrup Cay was replaced with Key West because of weather. I'd never been to either place so was fine with the substitution. Had a great time at Key West. So I voted for GSC for next time.
mbisson Posted February 4, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 4, 2009 We always enjoy GSC but have been there more times than we've been to KW. That's why I voted for Key West. How bout an itinerary that includes both! :D (I better search for one of those, who knows maybe it already exists)
Stillfloatin' Posted February 4, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Definitely KW! There are always many beautiful beaches at the other ports if we feel like a beach day, but KW is very special.

Then we got sucky Freeport.:( sandy

judybooty Posted February 4, 2009 #20 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I vote GSC, but that's because I live in Florida and go to Key West quite frequently...It's okay, you can be jealous;);)

imsmpls Posted February 4, 2009 #22 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I've been to Key West a few times but never GSC (or any private island). I'm travelling with 2 small kids and GSC will be much more relaxing for us and exciting for them. They love the beach and have been practicing snorkeling in pools and bathtubs! jerikw Posted February 4, 2009 #23 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Key West!!! Sloppy Joe's for a drink, cruise the shops on the main drag, and sunset on Mallory.... FUN! And look for a rooftop bar after the sun goes down (used to be the Holiday Inn) for a great view. The Treasure museum is rather intersting, too. :D
bluesea777 Posted February 4, 2009 #24 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Key West. I have been to both Key West and GSC but voted for Key West because: 1) I prefer dock to tender and want to return to Key West for its tackiness and relaxing atmosphere (was there on Xmas Eve 1997) 2) nothing beat our Bermuda beaches!
