Hanauma Bay State Underwater Park

Does anyone know if Hanauma Bay is open on New Year's day? I've called the State Department of Parks and they've informed me the Diamond Head will be open/accessible, but did not know about Hanauma Bay. They did provide me with an information number for the bay, but it has been busy every time I called. Just wondered if any of our insightful locals had the answer.

It looks like it is, as long as New Years isn't on a Tuesday.

Hours: Hanauma Bay State Underwater Park Park is open every day except Tuesdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Follow-on question: is this park within walking distance of Waikiki?

It is if you don't mind a half day's walk.

 

It's best to drive or take the bus to Hanuama Bay.

I did get in touch with them. They are closed on New Year's Day, although Diamond Head is open normal hours.

that is a shame - maybe you can find a tour operator that can take you somewhere close by - or better!
