Liquor purchased once on Princess

We are thinking of pre-ordering an assortment of items from the gift section to have them waiting on us in our cabin. We would like to have a small bar to entertain our fellow guests in our party. The bottles are pints or less from the descriptions we have read. What types of items are offered for purchase once we board in the gift shops? Are they priced higher or lower than the gifting option? Mainly interested in bourbon, whiskey, rum, etc. Thanks for your help.

We've done it too, lol. Many of us enjoy a tipple before dinner!

We have taken mixers (cranberry juice in the 4-packs) as well as lime, etc. and Vodka / Tequila without any problems. Of course it only stays in our cabin.

LOL, you're more than welcome to show up for a triple tipple. Mom's side originates from the UK, and I guess that's the word I grew up with. Cocktails, tipple, etc.

Think I like the "triple" though - :D

Some times we topple before dinner as well.

I have gone on record stating that if Princess was holding to their alcohol policy for economic reasons and not for liability reasons, they are missing the boat (pun intended). When Princess used to have a duty free shop outside the ship (and then they had liquor for sale on board in the shops or at the bar) for purchase and delivery to you before sailing to take to your cabin, they made more money. We always purchased beverages from the bar in addition. Where Princess is losing now is with those of us that have found a way to beat the system by smuggling aboard.

Exactly.

Even back in 2005 we could order a liter of Bombay Sapphire from Room Service for $30, knowing that we could buy it at the duty free store in the San Juan terminals for $9.95; but we bought onboard.

Now they charge $22 for a 375ml bottle and don't sell the 1L bottles at all, so we smuggle.

I don't understand their math.

On our last cruise they were collecting bottles of liquor as people re-boarded in St Thomas & it was almost a voluntary thing. After you went through the scanner there was a desk set up to collect you boxes (only if you stopped at the desk) & many people just walked right by & got on an elevator. It's very inconsistent and if you had a few bottles out of sight in a beach bag instead of a "Sparkeys" box you could just walk by.

They've got to know it happens all the time & depend on the honesty of people to turn it in of which there are very few. ;)

Hi Keith,

I plan to keep the communications open while on the Island starting Thursday; but don't look for me to sit by the laptop.;)

I am going through my last minute checklist now again and again and again.:D

Mike:)

Mike if you get the chance say Hi to the PSD Emilio.

Great guy, we (DW/inlaws) had dinner with him in the Bayou.

Celebrity was pretty good at confiscating bottles of alchohol. Our extent of smuggling involves pouring vodka into emptied and clean Gatorade (clear) plastic sport bottles...you know the kind in a 6-pack? This proved to be the best smuggle-job.

The worst smuggle-job was putting gold Tequila into a regular Listerine bottle.  God that was awful. The taste of Listerine never really left the bottle and the Tequilla was tossed. Oh well...but the vodka and Gatorade works every time.

One correction on the booze.

They now offer for sale the little airline mini bottles (50ml) for $5 each. OUCH:eek::eek: I am willing to bet they haven't sold enough to fill up an ice bucket at those prices.

Mike:)

Who was selling the little 50 ml bottles for $5.
