luv2cruz44 Posted February 12, 2009 #27 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I love decorating my door. And it's great if you can get CC members from your roll call to join in. Sportsmom, great to hear you're onboard. You'll find it does make it easier to find your room. And you get to meet lots of people who thank you for the landmark.:D;) On our upcoming Panama Canal cruise, one of the activities is a door decorating contest. We are using a regional theme. We got involved with each other through a CC roll call but didn't know about an official CC door decoration or sign,
TransplantedOkies Posted February 12, 2009 #28 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Door Decorating sounds like so much fun! Can someone point me to the CC poster so I can put it on our door? Thanks!
hillbilly cruiser Posted February 12, 2009 #29 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I don't know if all cabin doors are the same on all ships but I had a CC magnet and it would not stick to our door at all. I think it was the Trimuph.
brown_eyedgal Posted February 12, 2009 #30 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Door decorating sounds like fun...I might just put something little (and have multiples just in case) on the door. I believe my room is right near the elevators so it shouldn't be that hard to find...guess I would have to make sure I am on the right deck though...;)
sparkscruiser Posted February 12, 2009 #31 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Many of the ships do not have metal doors. We will be decorating our doors for our Panama Canal cruise. We have over 20 doors signed up and will have a vote as to who's got the best decorations. Our theme is "where I live". Since we are right next to Reno, we will be decorating with all the great things there are to do here. Our roll call is very active, but feel free to stop by. Fraucruiser Posted February 12, 2009 #32 Share Posted February 12, 2009 Planning on doing it next week on Freedom. 50th B.D. for for gals and I bought some Over the Hill, etc. decorations. If you don't use tape, what do you use????? BLUE PAINTERS 3M TAPE is what we used! It's what I read to do from these boards
Donnask8pro Posted February 13, 2009 #33 Share Posted February 13, 2009 We always decroate our doors but... be careful. Make sure its nothing you can't part with. Things tend to disappear throughout the week. Miracle metal door, Spirit metal door, Triump not metal, Liberty not metal. Sensation.. tygercruiser Posted February 13, 2009 #35 Share Posted February 13, 2009 Going on the Fantasy for Mardi Gras, and being from south Louisiana, we've got to decorate for Carnival. I've got lots of Mardi Gras decorations (purple, green, and gold) to decorate my door and cabin. My DH is going to kill me with all the extra stuff I'm bringing. Also I've got my masks, boas, beads, etc.!! Elmer's makes a reusable adhesive called Tac N Stik that you can use to put your decorations on your door. There's also a blue putty, can't remember the name. The thing is to have fun!! Ann
Rare TV Dad Posted February 13, 2009 #36 Share Posted February 13, 2009 We decorate our door on Christmas cruises. . . It was actually fun. AND when my daughter was younger, decorated the door so she would recognize it if she ran ahead or somehow got seperated from us.
Tyskie Posted February 13, 2009 #37 Share Posted February 13, 2009 We have hung Birthday "signs" on the doors before, but this year we did the Princess repo Halloween Cruise NY to San Juan. The CC roll call termed it the "Bat" cruise. We had neon glow in the dark bats on our balcony door and bats and decorations on the hall door (ours was some sort of metal). We got most of the stuff locally, i.e. Party City, Walgreens, Cedarhurst Paper.................even the Dollar Store. Don't get too crazy - make it fun! Must say other cruisers did enjoy seeing the decorations.

Morcruisin4Fun Posted February 15, 2009 #39 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Can you use scotch tape to adhere decorations to your cabin door? Are the cabin doors on the Valor magnetic?
TexmanAl Posted February 15, 2009 #40 Share Posted February 15, 2009 By all means decorate your doors - it can be fun. On the one door we had people sign the brown kraft background paper and got some neat comments. We hung sharpie pens with fishing line at different heights. Fun Fun Fun Al
KNowme1st Posted February 15, 2009 #41 Share Posted February 15, 2009 We were on the Inspiration on01/12/09, and from I saw, and was told, we were the ONLY ones who decorated our door. Was quite a let down, as I had heard so much about it on the boards
Cruisejunky2 Posted February 19, 2009 #42 Share Posted February 19, 2009 We've been decorating our door for a while. We use the blue painter's tape but also hooks on suction cups. We have our signs on a foam sheet and punch holes in it for the hooks. Sometimes we roll up the tape behind it to hold it in place. One of our signs lets everyone know where we are. We move a starfish around next to the location. Also, it's personalized with our names so people won't take it. So far,so good.
breezycruiser Posted February 19, 2009 #43 Share Posted February 19, 2009 :)I didn't know people do this! I'm going on my second cruise this summer and this is right up my alley! I'm going to start looking around for decorations for my door! I really like the idea of putting a pen out so people can sign your door.:)
msubobcats Posted March 5, 2009 #44 Share Posted March 5, 2009 Wife is trying to plan a big door decoration. Does anyone have a rough idea of the SIZE of the door, ? x ?... I know, a strange request, and since everyone carries a tape measure on the ship with them, I expect an answer rather quickly ;) Go Cats

valancy1 Posted May 11, 2010 #47 Share Posted May 11, 2010 I make a scrapbook page for each day of the cruise. I put a pen on a string so people can write a message. Some of the messages were not so nice. LOL. But I still do it because it's fun to do, most people like seeing them and it does help us find our cabin. Plus, I can use these pages in my scrapbook--covering the writing with photos and journaling. Here are a couple examples:
