Walkie-talkies for rent?

We'll be on the Sapphire in April... can you rent walkie-talkies on the ship? If not, anyone have a pair they can recommend that aren't too expensive?

No, I dont believe the ship rents them. The childrens area does give some kind of communication device if you have kids in the programs, maybe a beeper of some kind.

I can't answer for the Saphire Princess but I did see a sign advertising 2-way radios available for rent on CB during the 01-08 Feb '09 sailing.

I'm pretty sure that the Sapphire does offer walkie-talkies for rent. But you can probably get some cheaper at your local Target or WalMart.

Not sure about Sapphire, but Ruby does rent out walkie-talkies for a nominal fee, so i presume Sapphire might.

Probably wont work fantastically well if one is deep inside the ship due to all the metal about. Worth a try if you take your own though

While aboard the CB last summer, we were amazed how well the low power walkie-talkies worked. Even deep in the ship (when they were fully charged). we were able to communicate perfectly. They were particularly handy at the ports-of-call when the family would go their separate ways. Buy them at Wal-Mart, and you will have them for your next trip.

Just remember, others will have walkie talkies too and you'll hear a lot of chatter. You can try and find a channel that's not so "busy", but it's a gamble. Of course, you could learn a lot from listening too. :D
