earnied Posted February 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2009 I will be dropping off fellow cruise companions and luggage at the terminal entrance and I will then proceed to the port parking garage to park my vehicle. Are there signs posted to help direct me to the parking garage ? I am known for easily getting turned around and lost. :) Is there any advantage to parking on any specific level of the garage ? Kooolmomma Posted February 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2009 There are many piers that Princess berths, so you need to know which one you are going to. We were docked in #2 on the Emerald Princess last month, but came back in at #29. So you need to check with the Port Everglades Port authority to find where your ship is docking on your specific date. Parking in #2 was very easy and plenty of signs, we just parked on level 2 and took the elevator down to the main level and went into the terminal. Check http://www.broward.org/port/cruise_passengerinfo_parking.htm for more info on parking. Mary Lou
chrysalis Posted February 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2009 I assume you are meaning Ft Lauderdale, right? There are actually two parking garages there, and the one for the main Princess terminal has a parking garage right beside it. Very easy to find, and the port is well signed. Do a google for Port Everglades, and you will find a map of the port area and the terminal and garage locations.
Grego Posted February 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2009 Actually there are parking garages near by both areas Princess uses for their berthing. The Northport area, which the main pier for Princess has its garage right next door to the pier so it's very easy to drop off the luggage with the curbside porters and then continue the circle around to the garage. You actually kinda go out of the area, make a U turn and come back in this time to the garage. If you are traveling light enough that you can walk from the garage to the embarkation entrance with your luggage, it might be easier to park your car first. Now the rub is if you are returning to a different pier that from which you left. You have choice, drop the luggage off at the ship and drive to your returning pier area garage and either walk or take the shuttle if it is available - or, leave your vehicle at your embarkation point garage and take the shuttle back there on your return. LynnTTT Posted February 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2009 The whole thing is super easy. At terminal #2, the garage is right there at the drop off point. I mean like 50' across from the boat. We parked at garage and took the Crown Princess and got back yesterday. At embarkation,my husband driopped me off with all the luggage. Porters employed by the port loaded it onto carts to put in the ship. Tipped them $1 per bag. The I got in the line and husband joined me within 10 minutes after parking the car. The disembarkation on Sunday literally took 30 minutes. We gathered in the assigned dining room at 8:40, and were escorted with our hand luggage into the terminal. All the big luggage that was taken from the cabin the night before was waiting in the terminal. We grabbed a porter, he wheeled us thru customs, no luggage check for us, and wheeled us straight to our car on level 4 (remember where you parked). We tipped him $20 and were out of the garage by 9.15. Couldn't be easier.
