Lobsterman Posted February 23, 2009 #30 Share Posted February 23, 2009 We snorkeled off the "Castaway Girl" in St Thomas last May and snorkeled at St Marteens too. St Thomas was definitely better, water was clearer and the boat crew was a lot of fun. Cheap rum punch though. The water was cloudier at St Marteens, but they did give us a great BBQ Baby Back Ribs and Rice lunch on the beach afterwards. We did a guided tour through Nassua and the Pirate Museum. I would pass on the guided tour and go to a beach or see Atlantis. The Supper Club was great, I wish we ate there another night.
A.S. Posted February 23, 2009 #31 Share Posted February 23, 2009 nybumpkin, How were the buffet lines? Were they just as long as the Victory & Triumph? Thanks
nybumpkin Posted February 23, 2009 Author #32 Share Posted February 23, 2009 A.S., I find the buffet lines on the Conquest-class of ships work much better than those on Victory (and I assume Triumph) because there are two more lines available as well as options like the fish and chips station. There were certainly times when the lines were a bit long (e.g., the chocolate line at lunch on the last day), but overall I thought the lines moved well. Lobsterman, our excursion was aboard Castaway Girl as well. It was a lot of fun.

This will be our 5th Carnival cruise, and going with friends who are first-timers... any recommendations for St-Maarten? Hi Jiminy I was on the same cruise as Kathy. We had a blast! As for recommendations for St Maarten,we booked a tour thru Bernards.com it was well worth it.We got to see so much on the Island, did shopping in diff. places plus we did two beaches. The water was beautiful. We also seen the planes land from a 3rd beach we went too.It was awesome seeing the planes land so close to us.;)

Doug liked Glory best of the Conquest-class ships we've sailed, but I think I'm still a bit partial to Liberty.

cmecruise1962 Posted February 24, 2009 #37 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Is there anyway you can get a copy of the camp carnival capers and Club O and scan them in when you get back?? Please please!?!?:D I am trying to convince my kids (14,12,10) that camp carnival will not be "gay" and that they will need to at least go the first night to the meet and greet! This is there first cruise so they are aprehensive... That is where they will meet the other kids and tweens...and then they can either choose to go or not. I have always insisted on eating dinner together and going on excursions, but other than that, I rarely see my daughter (13)...she loves the Circle C!! We will be there Easter Sunday and were thinking of trying to find mass on the island. Hope you had a great time on your cruise. How did you get there? St. Francis Cathedral St. Francis is a very short walk from the pier area, on West Street - just up the hill from the British Colonial Hilton. Here's the website: http://www.archdioceseofnassau.org/parishes.htm It is Roman Catholic, but you will see both Anglican and Caribbean influences in the Mass. Sunday Masses are at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Be forewarned, though - this is not your typical American 50-minute Mass. We were there until 12:30. The people are very welcoming - at the end of Mass, the assistant rector asked the visitors to tell the congregation where they were from.
