Msliz Posted February 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Our 13 year old daughter hasn't had much luck in the program for the younger teens on the Mariner of the Seas so we were wondering what kind of experience others have had on Freedom of the Seas since that is the ship we are going on in July.
crusinmama06 Posted February 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2009 What didn't she like about it? I have some of the current Freedom class pages at the link in my signature. I wish I had the complete set but I kept forgetting to pick them up. Look at the Independence pages, it will be similiar to Freedom.
reallyitsmema Posted February 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2009 We have sailed the Mariner twice with an older teen, 16 and 17 when we sailed. It is really important to have your daughter go to the meet and greet the first night. The first night is when the kids seem to find their "group" that they hang out with for the week. If she didn't go til later in the week, it is harder for kids to mix in with the kids that have been hanging out together. There should be lots of kids on the Freedom in July. Hopefully, she can find someone she can become BFF with for the week.:)
sunandseagirl617 Posted February 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Definitely have your daughter go the first night! Also, my son met some others through our roll call at Cruise Critic....That helped a lot! July is definitely going to have a lot of families on board! BostonGal07 Posted March 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2009 My daughter was 11 went we sailed on Mariner of the Seas. She didn't want to go to the kids program, but as luck had it we sat at a table with another family that had a 12yr old girl. They became cruise BFF's and really enjoyed the kids program - met a lot of kids and had a blast! In fact we are sailing with the same family this August on Freedom of the Seas. Really encourage her to go and meet some kids - once over the initial fear she will be fine. Best of luck.
