Roadtripster Posted February 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Anyone use the prepaid Credit Cards in the Caribbean? I usually use them all over when I travel, even to Europe and have had no problems with them. I would like to use them at the ports. Since I will be doing a lot of water excursions, I thought it would be easier and "drier" to carry a prepaid card instead of cash. Then I don't have to worry about how much cash to have on me. cb at sea Posted February 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Yes, you can use them, but not everyplace will accept credit cards (which is how a pre-paid card is treated), like some of the "straw markets" are cash only. The larger, brick and mortar stores will take it.
Treven Posted February 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Definately, the brick & mortar stores will accept them. The local crafts fairs, etc won't. Last March when I was in the Caribbean, I used my plastic at Brick & mortar & good ole US$ at every place else.

I don't shop so I am mainly just planning on using it to pay for food at places or for some of my excursions.
