7mile or Georgetown for authentic lunch?

We're doing the Stingray/snorkel tour with Captain Marvin. Afterward, it sounds like we can be dropped off at either 7 mile beach or go back to Georgetown. What we'd really like is to have a nice, authentic lunch somewhere. Shopping or fancy hotels don't really interest us, nor do "chain" restaurants . I'm thinking we'd just like to eat, wander a bit, and head back to the ship. Any suggestions?

However, I'd still love to hear any first hand experiences- all of the descriptions of the places listed in the guide sound great, but somehow I've found that restaurant owners aren't always 100% reliable if you ask them if the food is good ;)

For authentic Caribbean fare in George Town try Corita's Copper Kettle restaurant on Edward Street. It is popular with office professionals working in the banks and government buildings downtown.

IMO Cayman has fewer "authentic caribbean" and more regular type restaurants with emphasis on seafood -- plus if you didn't know most are PRICEY! Most charge in Cayman dollars, so you need to check currency exchange rates now.

Two waterfront dining we like are (#1) Cracked Conch up in West Bay near Turtle Farm and (#2) The Wharf located as you're heading back into Georgetown on "water side" of road after you pass the Comfort Suites and Treasure Island and near an intersection where the supermarket is.

Look at that website someone posted above at Seven Mile & Georgetown lists -- there are several others waterfront and most have their menus to look at!!!

Cayman has lots of tourists and lots of restaurants that primarily cater to tourists.

Genuinely "local" fare is usually quite reasonable. A typical lunch from restaurants catering to locals runs about CI$6 to CI$8 (US$7.50 to US$10) plus the cost of your choice of beverage (CI$1-CI$2).

For reference, a Burger King Whopper value meal (including drink) runs CI$5.98.

Well... of course they charge in Cayman dollars! (When in Rome....) The exchange rate is fixed and Cayman dollars are stronger than the US dollar. CI$1=US$1.25

Can you recommend a restaurant that caters to the locals that is not too far off the beaten path? Perhaps somewhere between 7 mile and the pier. I am particularly interested in eating some conch.
