Skagway & Juneau Shore Excursions?

We are booked on the Star Princess for the 8/30/09 cruise. Thinking about the White pass RR trip in Skagway. Should we book thru Princess or use a tour company, such as Chilkoot? also looking for a Mendenhall tour in Juneau -- again, should we go thru Princess or book something on our own? Suggestions welcome! Thanks...

It depends what kind of "tour" you want??? Read the descriptions and make a choice based on your priorities. If you are open to independent, you will get a more personal tour, smaller groups and usually longer.

 

For Mendenhall, again, what are you looking for??? There is a dock shuttle bus for $14 round trip pp, that drops you at the glacier, do what you want and return. Or there are Mendenhall tour buses that include commentary, several stops and about 45 minutes at Mendenhall- usually enough time for many. MGT is a long standing vendor, which has reasonable priced bus tours that are excellent.
