Where to stay, post cruise?

We are staying in San Juan one extra day after our cruise. We are looking for a nice place to stay, maybe in Old Town? We don't want a budget buster but not using price as the criteria. We want to stay at a place where we are wow'd and it's part of the San Juan experience. Think more boutique/bed & breakfast, not Marriott.

 

It's a Sunday night if that makes a difference with what's going on in the city.

For the wow factor and San Juan experience the place that immediately comes to my mind is El Convento. A former convent boutique hotel in the heart of Old San Juan. I haven't stayed there myself but it looks beautiful and receives great reviews. Only problem is that it is expensive.

When we were there the last time we asked some of the locals where to stay and that's what they said. Of course we completely forgot the name as soon as we got back to the ship.

We always go to eat at the tappas bar (El Tappatio or something like that) in the hotel when we're in San Juan. Great food! GO SOX!

it's El Picoteo. I've read tons of reviews and they were all fantastic. It's on our must do list.

 

We're staying at Intercontinental post cruise so we can have a relaxing beach day and be close to the airport for our early am flight Monday.
