London and Money

Recommended Posts

My husband says we can use Euros in London. I think it is pounds. Which one is correct?

It is the Pound, not Euro, in London and throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In Ireland, it is the Euro.

Last summer when in southern England/Kent for five days prior to our Baltics cruise from Dover, it took $2 to get one Pound. Today, it is about $1.42 for one Pound. It costs $1.26 for a Euro today verus $1.60 in late July 2008. Big improvement compared to the middle of last year!

Will it be fun telling your husband that he's wrong?

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Some stores in tourist areas will take Euros, but at a very poor exchange rate.

Its a bit like saying do they take Euros in the US, The answer being Yes if someone can make a buck out of it, but otherwise no.
