Live Poker on Ruby???

Tell your husband that although it is an electronic table, he will have live players sitting around it. the only difference is no dealer, the table deals electronically like the internet games. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on the CB a year or so ago.

Here is the link to a review I wrote for a poker site - please have him read it - it should give a good idea of what it was like. I played every night...

Could someone please tell me (actually for my husband) if there is live poker on the Ruby Princess? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Emily

There is LIVE 3 card poker, but not the large poker table for 5/7 card poker. There is also Caribbean poker and Let it Ride.

I agree with giving thumbs up to the PokerPro tables..

As a former Pit Manager, I appreciated the efficiency and speed of the tables. Now, as a player - you're subjected to more hands per hour, which means more rake. However, the quality of the game is vastly improved over some live games.. it's a nice, brisk pace with a countdown clock for players. Plus, you don't have to deal with irregularities/dealer error, and actions are very cut and dry.

People can, and will, argue that the 'machines can cheat', yadda yadda yadda (I heard it all when we put automatic shufflers in our poker tables).. but when it comes down to it, the casino gets the rake no matter who wins the pot. The casino could literally care less who wins.

Before going on our cruise on the Emerald last month, I'd never played at a PokerPro table. I was skeptical about collusion. I mean, without a dealer, who is there to make sure people aren't team playing? After playing at the table, I've realized two things:

First, if people are obviously colluding together, everyone will just get up and leave the table. From my experience, the people playing at the tables were just there for fun. It's $1/$2 no-limit with an average bankroll of $100. Once it becomes "not fun", the majority will just get up and leave.

Second, because you have to use a ID card assigned specifically to you while playing, there is a possibility that the table itself can detect collusion by your betting patterns. Online poker sites run software that can detect oddball play which sets off red flags on your account. Since the PokerPro play is all electronic, it is very conceivable that it has the same ability.

They had two daily $50 buy-in tournaments each sea day that were fun to play. I got bamboozled (flopped a set with my pocket pair, decided to slow play and let the guy across from me turn a set of his own) :( - but it was fun!!

Tell your husband to bring his own chips and start up his own game. Very easy to find players that dont want to play at the pokerpro tables. Collusion isnt my worry as much as the game be designed to get players to put alot of chips in the pot to increase the rake. On the Golden a couple of weeks ago, saw a guy flop a Royal Flush and get 4 of a kind, both times using both of his hole cards. Been going to Vegas for years and never saw one person have that kind of luck. Just something to think about.

We did this on our last cruise. Guy had brought poker chips with him.

Went up to the buffet and played.

  • 1 month later...

I have the same concern about the electronic PokerPro tables. They certainly could be rigged to force more betting, like dealing out AA, KK, QQ in the same hand, causing set over set battles, etc. Things that happen VERY rarely at a live dealer table.

I'm on Ruby in June, and I intend to play, so we'll see how it goes.

The biggest problem with "home" games is there is no one to mediate disputes.

We'll see how it goes. If I win a lot, it's obviously not rigged. If I lose a lot, it's DEFINITELY rigged! :D

I'll let you know.
