We are also with you on the same cruise and have plans to go to Magazine beach.

Have been to Grenada before and did the spice tour so we wanted to try something a little more laid back for the day.

We were at Magazine Beach a few days ago off the Emerald Princess - beautiful beach, plenty of shade, great little beach bar. Probably good snorkeling over the reef but it was too windy and choppy when we were there. In any case, it is a wonderful beach. Highly recommended! Be sure to have your taxi driver return for you however as it is not on a regular route.

Thanks for the information.

Can you tell me how much the cab fare was ? Did your cab driver come back for you in a timely manner?

Moya - I *think* the fare was $15 in each direction and I'm pretty sure I gave the driver $20. He was there to pick us up about a half hour before the scheduled time and hung out at the Aquarium beach bar area (where we were having a nice rum punch!) until we were ready to go. No problem, mon!

Oh yeah - another nice thing about Magazine compared to more popular beaches on Grenada - very few vendors and the ones there were polite. I think we were the only cruise passengers there but there were a few people on the beach who were staying at the resort. It certainly was NOT crowded by any means. Heaven! Wish I was back there right now....

.. need shade.

Is there any shade at La Sagesse or Magazine?

I haven't been for awhile but

as I remember it, there's a good bit more shade at La Sagesse

This shot of Magazine Beach..

IMG_5003.jpg

was taken in May 2005 - I don't see much possibility of shade here

although I could be wrong.

Maybe someone's renting umbrellas there, by now??

Or just use the Aquarium Beach Bar there, for drinks, shade etc..

Whereas...

I remember the situation at La Sagesse being

that the forest came pretty much right down to the beach

and so you should find some natural shade there

but as mentioned above, I haven't been to G'da in nearly 4 yrs. now.

Hope this helps?
