On the Conquest you cashed them at the Purser's Desk. There was no fee.

That is common with all -- you sign the top one at the bank when you get them (they make you now) and then you sign the bottom when you cash them. Otherwise anyone can use them (or they end up refusing because they can't watch you sign to make sure the sigs match)

I had traveler's checks on my first cruise in 2001 on the Elation. I had nothing but trouble with them. I would cash them in the casino, and later that night would get a call or message to go to the pursers desk. I had to re-sign because my signature did not match my original signature. After the third time, I cashed them all and didn't bother with them. :confused:

Precisely why I would never bother with travelers checks.

 

That's why there is a safe in the cabin, or you can put items in the purser's safe.

That's fair enough but it doesn't stop you losing or having the cash stolen before you reach the ship...

I used them on two cruises, on the third, I said FORGET IT after the purser's desk had me sign them in the wrong spot (even after I questioned her), then told me they were no good because I had signed them wrong.

So I was out nearly $200 in cash that I had to wait to get back when we got home and I went back to my bank. They processed them as 'lost' so that I could get my money back.

From now on, I'll just carry cash and lock it in the safe. We don't carry all that much to worry about anyway.

 

But yes, you sign them at the purser's desk for free.

Exactly where are you going to get them replaced while sailing around in the middle of the ocean? Oh, and BTW, the thieves also stole the records because we like to keep everything together.

Since the onus of proof is on you the consumer, how are you going to prove which ones were used properly and which ones were stolen and used improperly?

Who wants to spend all day in port trying to figure out how to replaced travelers cheques?

When you use the ships safe do you keep the card that you used to lock it on top of it since you like to keep things together?:rolleyes:

 

The T checks come with 3 copies of the serial numbers.You put one in each bag and one on your person.

You get a hotmail email account and send an email to yourself with the numbers so if by some chance,you get robbed at gun point,including your pants with the #copy, and the 2 pieces of your luggage get stolen from the ship while you are out on island,you still can access them thru email. If you purchased from AAA you can call them and they will give you the numbers.

We used $700 worth to pay our sail and sign and to cash for ports , no problems at all
