CruisnGram Posted March 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2009 We'll be docking in St. George as we are on the Majesty. Which beach would you recommend that is good for both snorkling and for a young child? I realize that there may be great snorkling areas that don't have a shallow beach area for kids, and vice versa, but is there any beaches that would work for both? The child is two, so a sandy beach with shallow wading water is a necessity. And the closer to St. George the better. Thanks CG

iheartbda Posted March 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2009 Yes, Tobacco Bay will suit your needs to a tee. Just be aware that the beach is small and it can get crowded with most people arriving close to noon, then it clearing out around 3:00. There are bathroom facilities, snack bar plus chairs and umbrellas to rent. We've always found the snorkeling to be good especially around the rock formations. You can also go out into the open ocean and see fish you won't see in the "enclosed" area. I know you are doing scooters but I'm assuming the child and parents won't. There is a shuttle van for $3.00 that takes you directly to TB. Don't know if they charge for children but if there are 3-4 people a taxi is cheaper in the long run. Also, on busy days, sometimes the wait for th van can be awhile, whereas, there are always cabs to get you there quicker. This doesn't show the whole beach but will give you an idea of the layout of TB.
Cjw0808 Posted March 19, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2009 As the others have said, Tobacco Bay is a good choice. I went on the Majesty two years ago and docked in St. George. It's such a nice place. Enjoy Bermuda!
mag Posted March 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2009 CG, Don't forget to bring some cereal from the ship with you. Pick it up at the breakfast buffet. I brought 2 little boxes and sprinkled and the fish gathered around. A man and his 2 little ones were in the water and the kids loved it! Wish I had brought more. Also took it with me farther out to facilitate the snorkeling. Works great!
