LIV 2 CRUISE Posted March 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Thinking of cruising to Egypt/Turkey, etc. in either November or January. Can anyone who has done this cruise in either month please give me their weather experiences? Thanks.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2009 We did the Eastern Med and Egypt in mid-November. We had wonderful weather throughout our cruise, but November CAN be cool and rainy in some ports. For example, we had lovely weather in Istanbul (probably 55 degrees F in the morning but warmed up to near 70), but heard that the week before our visit they had cold weather and snow. In Ephesus it was about the same, maybe a couple of degrees warmer and quite sunny. Egypt will be perfect for sightseeing in either November or January. Hydrokitty Posted March 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2009 We did Egypt and Jordan in January and it was perfect weather for sight-seeing....too cool for swimming but lovely for sitting on deck. Also did Istanbul and Athens but in October, which was wonderful. But somewhere along the line I remember hearing someone tell me that they have terrible sand storms in Cairo and I thought it was during Oct. and Nov. I could be wrong but I suggest you check into it because when they have a sandstorm it shuts everything down and you cannot go outdoors!
CLEMM Posted March 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2009 I think the sandstorms are in the spring. April I think.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 27, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2009 Certainly did not hear a thing about sandstorms when we were there in November (cruise overnight) or in February (2-week land trip).
