jemy70 Posted March 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I was curious if there were maps on the ship to help you get around, sort of like those signs in the mall with all the stores and the little dot saying "you are here". :) Or, maybe a paper copy. Just wondering if I need to study the ship layout before we leave or not.

Have a great cruise!
dbdave Posted March 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2009 There are both fixed maps and paper maps. There are deck plans at he elevators and you can get paper maps from the Purser's desk. You won't need them for long after you find your way around.:)
Toto2Kansas Posted March 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2009 And the maps located on the walls do have a red dot locating that 'You Are Here'. You might get turned around at times as some of these ships are huge, but before long you will know exactly where you are and where you are headed, with the help of your little pocket map. ;)
caribill Posted March 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2009 The best map will be in the Princess brochure that covers your voyage (example: Europe, 2009). It will show exactly what is on every deck and every cabin location. If you do not locate this before your trip (your travel agent should have one or you can request it on the internet from Princess), usually the onboard Future Cruise Consultant will have some brochure which will have it. LeeW Posted March 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 26, 2009 And don't forget Princess color codes the stripe on the edge of the carpet in cabin areas. As I recall blue on port side orange on starboard (but could be the other way around). Remember the color so when you get out of the elevator you know which way to turn. jagsfan Posted March 27, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2009 I've never been on a cruise where you couldn't get a deck plan from the Purser's Office. I really like the ones on the wall near the elevator, though. I can read them without my glasses. I do check out the deck plan for my ship in the brochure. Then by the time I board, I have a pretty good idea where everything is. If I can fine my stateroom and the buffet for lunch, I'm set for the first few hours. Toto2Kansas Posted March 27, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 27, 2009 Unless, of course, if some um... good-natured... children rearrange the dots as has happened on one of our voyages. :p Oh, now that is a very good excuse if I get myself turned around on the ship. I need to remember that one. "sorry hunny, I went the wrong way because some silly children re-arranged the dots on the wall map". Yep, sounds like the perfect way to keep him from teasing me, especially on the mega monster ships. :)
