chipmaster Posted April 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2009 While I have not used ever ATM in either country, as far as I can remember, every one I have used recently offers English as an alternative. Used them at Athens, Florence, Rome, Marsaille and Barcelona. English was an option even in France. Also found them in the far east: Malaysia, Japan, China, and Sinapore too. Yes the world realizes that Americans only know one langague, but they do want our money really badly :D

tom_uk Posted April 3, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2009 The English language choice may be identified with a Union Jack. I was about to make exactly the same point! I remember using a ticket machine on the Barcelona Metro and a group of american passengers were standing at the next machine, and were having difficulty finding 'the english language option'. I told them the answer, and they were both grateful for the hint and a bit embarrassed that they hadn't got it themselves.
