Just thought I would write a bit about our trip so far....as several other did a few weeks back...and might I add that they were fantastic...pics and everything..,no pics but just some thoughts and hope I can help you get excited for your trip.....

The Ruby is amazing! We are having such a fantastic time.

We got to the port at 11:20 am....waited in the platinum + lounge for a short time and were on the ship by 11:45am....and we heard that the ship was delayed getting to port until 8 am....wow, that was some turn around.

We are on the Lido deck...very close to the pool...and we love our room!!!

We had a burger for lunch with a Dos Equis....yummmy!

Dinner was very good....dh has pork with apricot glaze ....which he loved and I had the prime rib which also was very good....we shared the Texas chili and it was also very good. We found a great waiter in the Da Vinci dinning room...his name is Francois ...he is almost 7 feet tall....if you can find him and sit at his table....tell him Christian and Sybil sent you....he is so much fun and very good!

The second night we went back to Francois and I had the beef medalions while Christian had Fettucini Alfredo and the pork w/home made apple sauce...he liked that also.

The buffet is buffet like....okay but nothing to write home about...I like the cereal in the morning...Musilix (spelling)....so it is okay for breakfast for us.........

Just an FYI ...if you have sailed other princess ships...the hidden dining room on the Ruby is NOT anytime....it is the traditional seating....lots of things are moved around so we've had fun with the new layout....kind of made things new again!

Entertainment wise....we saw the opening night show and it was pretty good. The dancers were good, the singers were really good and the comedy act...physical humor (Uber Rossi) was alright....last night we went to the Casino as it was non-smoking night and we are non-smokers...and NO this is not an opening to argue about that so don't even start...Thank you!

Oh...yea, we were in Ocho Rios today....and had NO PROBLEMS....yes people will ask to braid your hair or sell stuff...but I politely said no thank you and they left me alone....we did the ATV trip and that was wonderful...and we love Margaritaville....had a nice time there!

Bought my first Blue Diamond from Larry....he is amazing...and as we were only a few minutes from the ship leaving...last in the store...he gave me a great deal....so check him out....just ask Jules....the shopping person about him and she will tell you where to find him....good guy!!!!

The staff has been great....very nice and professional.

We really have no complaints....we're really having a great time and I will try to check in here every day or two and answer any questions I can.....

Happy Sailing!!!!

Hi Goldens4ever,

Great post. Can you elaborate on your lido level cabin, we are booked for L250 and are hearing mixed reports on the motion, wind (on balcony) and noise - We thought it would be a great location for pools and buffet, but would love to have a first hand account of the situation! Have a great trip!

Thanks so much for posting.

What is the hidden dining room?

Deck 6 aft "Bottechelli", it is the only thing down there and is only accessiboe by the aft elevators or by the stairs outside Club Fusion.

It is a traditional dining room on all ships except the Caribbean Princess.

I think you will love that room and location. We didn't have a rear facing balcony (we were in R739). You'll enjoy the convenience of that door that leads to the Terrace Pool, and, of course, Outriggers and Cafe Caribe, Horizon Court and even Sabatini's and Adagio's are all steps away. The two outer balcony rooms (750 & 751) IMO are a little more private 748 & 749. Enjoy!

We just got off the Ruby on 4-4 and yes it was delayed getting into port. They had problems getting the last lifeboat lifted back up so we left Princess Cays about 3 hours late. Arrived in port 1 hour late. Not too bad, but it made getting off the ship a mess. We were in L308 and loved it. The balcony was great. Felt the side to side motion of the ship a little on only two nights but not bad. Loved being close to the pools, Muts, and buffets. The elevators open up right at the Princess theater (deck 7). Wish I was back on the Ruby:cool:

We were in L252 last month and it was great.

Very quiet and very close to everything

I had very good WiFi access from the room

Enjoy

please don't eat all of the Love Boat Dreams! It has been a year since I had one and I am definately planning on eating 1 (or 2) each night!

Last two cruises I was on, the Loveboat Dream no longer had the Godiva chocolate piece on top.

No problem, mon...:DIt is fun sharing this with you all.....

Let's see...We were in Grand Cayman today...had a bit of a problem...our departure time was moved from 3:30 to 1:30...with very little notice and many, many excursions were canceled....bummmer! Luckily I have cc to fall back on....climbed on the Cayman Island thread and read quickly about reputable companies...so off we went with Moby Dick....Mark and gang and had a wonderful trip to the stingrays.....we have done this before but it has been years....we had a great trip; enjoyed it and it fit right into the schedule....got back on board, had a nice lunch in the dining room and took a nap....

Dinner tonight was Italian night...it was okay for me...dh loved the veal. The lemoncelo (spelling) was tasty as was the tiramisu (sp) also good. My chicken was just okay....no big deal...had plenty to eat!

OH....forgot to say why all the change in departure time....a storm is on the way ...last time this type storm hit, they delayed to long in leaving and some people got stranded....they could not get them back on the boat due to the swells....so they didn't want to take a chance on a reoccurance of this....it is pretty rocky tonight but that doesn't bother either or us.....

We saw an amazing show tonight....Tony Tillman....I am not a big production type person...and not into many of the performances....other than the comedians...but Tony was absolutely fantastic...don't miss him!

We also saw the comedian, james Michael....oh my....he was very, very funny...fast paced and had us crying in laughter....a bit over the line but that doesn't bother us!

About the Lido deck.....we love it and only book Lido....I know all about the other balconies...and am not at all interested....I don't need more space or a bigger balcony...we like being by the pool, pizza and burgers...and especially the bar....it is perfect for us....I did feel the slighetest listing last night when I went to the restroom...but it was not bad. Tomight will probably be bad....even the plaza deck was pretty rough....mid ship....In summary....the Lido is awesome!!!

The secret dining room question was answered....I don't remember it being traditional on ALL ships except the Caribbean.... but I don't have the time or desire to check this info....let's just say....on our last few cruises it was not this way....so I will just say...the back dining room that you have to go to deck 7...go down the right staircase to...stairs are by club fusion....go to deck 6.....is traditional dining (I'm not messing with colo cruiser....skert of that!).....enough said....so pick either the DaVinci or Michaelangelo....oh and by the way...Francios is in the Michaelangelo....he gets better and better....and the head waiter is Augustus....we don't wait in line anymore...we just walk in and head to our table....if Augustus sees us, he just smiles and tells us our table is ready.....

Lindasuej....I will keep an eye out for your sister....was she part of the thread? If you give me a description...I might be able to find her...and we will head right out to vines to send a hello from you....desiro!

Sorry, might not get to the pics...I will try to take some and post when we return....

beerinh2o....we'll try not to drink it all...although the challenge is quite tempting.....

We are off....gotta try my luck again at the casino...keep your fingers crossed for me....

More to come!

Wow, still suffering the PCD eh? I got over mine by the end of the first week. Anyway, my review just posted if your interested. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=53541

Yeah, we did the video thing too. I have about an hour of video...I made a full version to catalogue and then a very abridged version (about 17 minutes) to share with friends and family. :)

She was wonderful. It's great to read that people are enjoying her as much as we did.

Sorry to bust on the info about the Palm:confused:....but....not sure what it was called but on the June 13th, 2008 cruise on the Caribbean...but.... it was NOT traditional...we ate there for anytime dining with 13 other people....so unless they change it by cruise....which I guess is possible....it wasn't traditional on our cruise....

Good morning....a beautiful day in Cozumel...sunny with highs in the mid 80's...I forgot to mention that we have had beautiful weather each day!

The ship was rocking a bit all through the night....my dh wondered how many people may have been sick from it....we slept like babies and woke to have breakfast in the horizon court....I love the mueselix (sp) cereal...yummy!

Okay...we are off to Nachi Cocom....talk to you a bit later!

About the Terrace Pool....we were on the deck with that pool one cruise a long, long time ago.....

I believe there are two ways to get there....from the Caribe Buffet exit or from the deck that it is on...taking a few short steps up...I thought it was deck 14 but I will go there and check later today....:)

I am sure there are others who know this and can share but I will stop by!
